I’ve been using this particular Ace Hardware for nearly 30 years. Over the past few years, customer service has really taken a nose dive. In my case, the straw that broke the proverbial camels back fell today. I went in to pick up a few items, including sheet rock screws. I weighed out 2 pounds of them like I had for years, put them in a bag, and took them to the cashier. This particular cashier that I had this morning, told me that I had to go back and get the number for her to ring up those screws. This is after I had already told her that they were a particular type. It’s never been an issue before. At any rate, I walked back there, took a picture of the number that she was asking for, and came back to the register. When she scanned it, she said that the screws are only sold by the box or individually. She said you need to go back there and find a number for me. She didn’t tell me which number she was looking for anything. So I went back there and took a picture of a box that contained the same kind of screws. I took them back up there and she said “ I already told you that the screws or sold by the each or by the box. You're going have to buy a box or else go count all these.” I have never had this particular cashier before, but I thought at first that she must be joking. While customer service has steadily declined at ace hardware, I have never been treated like this. To make matters worse, a few of the other employees were just standing there and did or said nothing. There are simply too many places to buy materials these days, where I don’t have to feel like I’m interrupting someone’s job or be treated like a second class citizen. I’m not writing this review to try to enact any change. It’s clear that if management and ownership cared at all, this wouldn’t be an issue. I’m only writing this review to warn others about the sub standard business. I will never shop...
Read moreI hated my experience there just last week I came in that afternoon at 5:25pm on the date of 10/28/22 because my water cannon nozzle handle had broken now keep in mind this is a lifetime warranty item a Melnor water cannon which I used while doing pressure washing job or your daily household usage. So I walk into the local Oxford Ace hardware to an get another water cannon to bring to the countertop to change out with the damaged one because I purchase a $28 water cannon for the warranty which the item holds..So I was there about 30 mins while the cashier and the manager look at the computer acting like they are trying to help me but I am being held back from completing a job which is the reason which I was there in the first place…So now no one can find my receipt in the system and of course I don’t have the receipt because after two week the ink have faded off the paper and most of all my transactions are paid in cash so the receipt paper is out of the question but I have the item which I purchased that is my receipt .So I was informed that I have to contact the company which is the company that make the water cannons but like I informed the manager I didn’t purchase the item from the Melnor company I purchased it from Ace hardware so by the item being on your shelf it is right the valid the lifetime warranty..Bc if the item would have had a banner or instructions saying if item is not in working conditions to contact a third party company I would have never...
