Was told they were running out of food… Then the follow up response was “it’s 9 pm on a Saturday during a football weekend” Actually no, it was 7:30 when we were denied service. Apparently this restaurant has no idea that football schedules release months in advance. Their also apparently completely unaware that they live in a University town that often is responsible for hosting massive football games. They have provided zero solutions for being unprepared for an influx of patrons and have only provided excuses as to why they seem to be only food service providers in Oxford who aren’t prepped for this type of event, which is something all of the other businesses locally seem to have a well adjusted grip on. We went directly across the street to another restaurant and was greeted kindly and served. When we asked if they happen to be running out food too since apparently that seem to be a more than acceptable issue for Sola, the waitress thought we were joking, which further insinuates that Sola seems to be the only business who has this problem and doesn’t have competent management handling inventory during one of their most busiest weekends. As a person who runs an entire company and is completely aware of how operating a business works, I’m shocked at the poor planning of management accompanied by the insensitive customer service approach to handling my grievances. They also very clearly have children handling their Google my Business account which can be clearly seen by the reply to this review. They have provided no solutions to their inability to properly accommodate patrons and have dug their heels in the ground with excuses, followed up with sarcastic emojis... What a terrible way to operate in its entirety. I can’t imagine allowing this type of behavior to be responsible for the functionality of...
Read moreWith it being spring break, it was not overly crowded at all. The atmosphere first off was quiet and welcoming. The hostess immediately greeted us and set us down with a smile on her face. Our waitress was very kind and described everything in great detail. We have never visited before and was informed greatly. The menu was simple but had great options to choose from. We ordered the grilled parmesan oysters, and they were perfectly grilled and well seasoned. I paired it with their house made sweet potato hot sauce. Delicious to say the least. My husband ordered the prime rib steak, and it came with rice and broccoli. My goodness, it was good. Medium rare just like we like it. I ended up getting the brazed short ribs and honey Dijon mustard Brussel sprouts, and a bed of house made potatos and gravy! I am telling you. It was so good, and the short ribs were extremely tender. That isn't something you'd want to miss out on. We will definitely be back and do it...
Read moreI cannot express the amount of pure joy I feel every damn time I walk into Sola. I know that I'm always in for a special time with great people. The menu is always evolving & changing with the seasons, while continuing to incorporate the fan favorites that made us fall in love with this place in the first place. Andy and the rest of the Top Tier bartenders are always pushing the envelope with their signature cocktails and new spins on classic drinks. Executive Chef & GM Erika Lipe has truly brought together the best old south favorites, while constantly innovating with new recipes. You combine that with the "25 and up" atmosphere & you have an evening worth writing home about. Book your reservations in advance, especially during the busiest days of the year(football season, double decker & graduation), as they book up extremely fast. 12 out of 10!!!! Highly...
