We decided to go have a birthday dinner at the newly re-branded Oliver Hotel (previously Chancellor's House) I say re-branded because the layout of the hotel has not changed at all, only the color scheme was slightly different. We had a guest in for Thanksgiving and wanted to treat her to dinner at an upscale local restaurant and to celebrate a family birthday. We had special requests for dinner as our guest from out of town has several food allergies. This issue was discussed prior to making our reservation . We were assured that our special needs would be met. We made a reservation for dinner after being assured our special needs would be met. We arrived on time and were shown to our table. Our server was informed about the food allergies of our guest which gave me hope for a pleasant relaxed dinner. Our server took our drinks order and this was promptly served. Then she took our order for our first course ( two bowls of Soup of Day). Another bowl of soup was for a main course. Our guest with the food allergies was offered a steak and some simple vegetables for dinner, which was accepted The other Entrees were some shrimp and the fish of the day with vegetables . Away went our server to hand our Entrée order in at the kitchen .....The soup and baguette was enjoyable as a first course. Then our Entrée order was confirmed and our server went to take care of other tables. There were 4 other tables. There were 4 servers running the tables. Some of the tables were large groups. Our server checked on us for more drinks and served these promptly. After about 45 minutes we had not being attended to and we inquired how long before we would be served our Entrees? Our server apologized and went to the kitchen to check on order, when she came back she gave us the standard reply that dinner would be served soon....We waited another 15 minutes and no service. We called for a manager as we had been waiting for almost an hour for our dinner to be served. The manager was very terse and blamed us for the delay in serving our dinner as we had asked for steak and apparently it takes their line-cooks almost an hour to cook a steak....Lesson to someone dealing with the public....the Client/ Guest is NEVER wrong....We promptly decided to leave and go have dinner somewhere else. Before leaving we had to pay almost $100.00 for 2 glasses of wine, two bowls of soup, a baguette, some butter, a glass of soda and some sparkling water no discount or complimentary service....Nothing. We surely won't be back to Kingswood Restaurant ever again, neither would we recommend the restaurant for any reason. No comments on the food as we had very little. No comments on desert as we had none. Our server was helpless and caring, the same can't be said for the kitchen manager and kitchen staff. I agree with other reviews...Server was very kind and caring. The food was exceptional in its absence. Customer service from the manager was also exceptional....Exceptionally Rude....
Read moreWe had a group of about 15-20 enjoying drinks before & after a next door dinner event. Everything about our experience & service was top notch, until we were about to leave & stopped at the bar’s flat screen TV to watch the last few seconds of the Ole Miss vs LSU basketball game, which was tied 70-70. When Ole Miss got the rebound & scored the 2 winning points (after review) to win the game, a few guys appropriately cheered. The hostess left her station to walk over & reprimand them for cheering & accused them of disturbing their guests that were “trying to enjoy their dinner”…in a bar, at 9:45 pm, in a college town. The hostess unfortunately left a very bad impression on all of us, and made us all feel unwelcome. I thanked our sweet server for her gracious service, however, doubt any of us will be...
Read moreDeplorable is too nice for the experience. The food took almost two hours to arrive-no special orders. Straight from the menu. 3 of 5 meals were fully refunded if that tells you something. The food was either under or over cooked. One patrons food was stone cold. The drink seemed to contain no alcohol. One patron’s food never came out at all leaving him to endure the whole meal without food. The server was totally embarrassed. The restaurant was sparse but the bar was crawling with college kids sashaying in and out. There’s absolutely no explanation for this awful experience. We wont be back. The waiter observed we were playing a game and commented maybe they’ll keep playing and won’t notice. Come on. We were still out hundreds of dollars...
