Ordered a bridesmaid dress in January for a wedding in August of 2023. The bridal party was required to send in measurements and the style of dress of their choice. I completed the measurement form, provided my credit card information to pay the deposit and unless there was a miscommunication, I thought the dress would be ordered according to the measurements I provided – it wasn’t. The bridal shop never relayed the message to the purchaser the date that the dresses would be available and when the final payment was due. I received notification from another person in the bridal party in late May 2023 that the final payment needed to be paid in order for the dresses to be shipped. I contacted the bridal shop to make the payment and get an update on when I would receive the dress. I was informed that the final payment for the dress was to ship the dress to the bridal shop, not my home. This information should have been shared at the time the dress was ordered, as I live over three hours away from the bridal shop. I then inquired about where the dresses were made and was told oversees, but not an exact location. When trying to get an exact location Gigi informed me that it was made in either India or Japan. Fast-forward to July 2023, the dress arrived at the bridal shop and was able to be shipped to my home for an additional fee. I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that a $400 bridesmaid dress did not include shipping. I opted to pick up my dress from another member of the bridal party as I made up my mind that this bridal shop wouldn’t get another dollar from me. Finally, I received my dress and was instantly disappointed at the size and quality of the dress. It was entirely too big, and poorly made. I took it to my local tailor for alterations, and even she was confused with the quality of the dress, and size. The dress was supposed to have a split, but due to the size ordered it did not, and would have needed to be taken apart to cut the split in it to look like the pictures. Aside from that, it had way too much material on the lower half of the dress which required it to be take in on both sides plus the back in order for the dress to look like it had a shape. My local tailor said the dress was folded over me like a blanket. Aside from the size, the dress was unlined, and even just trying it on sweat marks were showing through the back of the dress as the tailor was pinning it for alterations. I am highly disappointed. My tailor is a miracle worker and made the alterations, however it costs me an additional $100 to do so.
I have been in three other weddings within the past year, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a bridesmaid dress. Read moreMy sister called over a week ahead to schedule an appointment based on the employee on the phone stating that they had a specific Pronovias gown. She had difficulty finding this specific gown all over the DC area, and was excited to finally have an appointment to try it on. She called again the day before to confirm they had the gown, and was told yes they did. The first thing the employee in this shop did that 'greeted us' was scold us immediately for having drinks. We had no problem putting our drinks out, but that's no way to greet a bride and her family when they're preparing to drop a significant amount of money in your shop. She then proceeded to open the dressing room door to show my sister the gowns she pulled, and the gown my sister called twice about was not in the room. When we asked about the dress, she asked to see a photo because she said she wasn't familiar with the dress. My sister pulled up a photo from their website of the dress, and she said 'oh yeah, I think we might have had that but maybe we sold it'. My sister then proceeded to tell her that she called yesterday and whoever was on the phone confirmed they had the dress in the store. She said she would look into it and went into their office. When she came out she said 'okay let's get to trying these on'. She said nothing about the dress in question, did not help my sister see what the long sleeve dresses would look like on her arms until prompted multiple times by family members and my sister. When we left there was no 'so sorry we couldn't help, or thanks for coming'. Nothing. My sister left crying at how disrespected and mislead she felt. Us Bridesmaids decided to get our dresses here. They did not measure everyone correctly first off. We ordered the dresses months in advance. Some paid for their dresses in full. During those months she was not responsive, she didn't call the bride back for months. Other people had to call the shop for her to answer. The day our dresses were supposed to be there for our dress fitting (with people coming from out of town), they were not there yet and she didn't communicate that to anybody. The bride's grandmother had to call her that week and she finally answered. Even though the bride had just called right before that and left a message and the shop told her she was unavailable.
Finally, the one time she called the bride back, she told the bride that the dresses would not be delivered until a week before the wedding, and that was not guaranteed. So, we had to come up with a plan B. They offered her some dresses from their warehouse which was unacceptable and nothing like the original dress. We ended up getting dresses off the rack at David's Bridal, which matched the color and original style (which had excellent customer service and was very helpful!).
When the bride asked for a refund for those dresses (when did still did not have them), the owner stated that we signed agreements that did not allow for refunds. Only two bridesmaids has signed agreements. The other 4 bridesmaids (including myself) had never seen or signed such agreement. She still refused to give a refund for our dresses. DO NOT SHOP HERE!
