I finally took a ride on The Capital Wheel @ National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD a few weeks ago and I’m so glad that I finally got to check this off of my list!

It was fun! Tickets were easy to get online. I purchased a package that included a photo, which I recommend to commemorate the experience. It is a nice keepsake.

National Harbor has several parking garages within a fairly short walking distance, which is convenient. There was no long line even though we went on a Sunday during the day. We only waited a few minutes before we were able to board the car. The staff was nice and friendly and helpful making sure that we got into the car safely and enjoyed our ride.

Once inside the wheel car, it felt like our own little world. I admit although I’m not terribly afraid of heights, under certain circumstances, my stomach did a little loop as we approached the top, but once we did it a few times, I was fine. I think we went around at least 5-6 times, maybe even more. It felt like about a 20 min ride or so and one that I would definitely do again, particularly at night just to see the view from a different perspective.

If you’re in the National Harbor and have some time and don’t mind heights, definitely that a spin on The Capital Wheel. They even have a bar and lounge area on the dock underneath the wheel if you want to grab a drink or quick snack. The menu limited. There are plenty of restaurants and places to eat in walking distance for a more substantial meal.

It was so cool to see the waterfront and area from above. It definitely gives you a sense of floating in the sky just for a...

I hate leaving negative reviews but I have to rn. Went last night for my birthday in below freezing temps with my kids to do something memorable and show them VA, MD, DC from above. First thank you to the lady at the ticket booth for taking care of us so quickly. The two guys working at the entrance of the wheel absolutely terrible service. As the winds were gusting up to 30 mph in 30 degree temps I took my 5 year old and 2 year old and ran to the front but apartently where we entered was VIP (which is the same and only entrance for the wheel). When asked if we were VIP I responded no and he said we’re gonna have to have you go around the other way. Mind you, freezing temps, cold children, my birthday, and for us to end up IN THE SAME SPOT. So ofc I was frustrated & asked what was the point of that with no one else even trying to enter the wheel but us & how there wasn’t a line and he couldn’t give me a response. It’s one thing to ‘do your job’ and it’s another to inconvenience people in freezing cold temps. They had heated lamps where you wait by the entrance which were not in use when they surely could have been. The air inside the capsule was blowing nothing but cold air. Overall not a good experience. I planned on coming back in February to spend $400 on their gender reveal but after last night absolutely turned off and won’t be back ANY time soon. As someone who works in customer service I would never inconvenience my customer to end up right back in the same spot. Paying for this experience with poor service in freezing weather has completely...

How fabulous! I was in bed this past Saturday morning; sun beaming through my window, I decided it was time to get out and explore. I wasn’t sure what to do so I googled “fun things to do at the National Harbor”. I was taken to several sources that said the Capital Wheel was a must try and so I did. I purchased two tickets online which was about $15 per adult ticket. Definitely worth the price. We went in the evening when the sun was just ready to set- oh my how delightful the view was. It’s so peaceful sitting there in the sky and looking over the still waters. Even my boyfriend who’s had traumatic experiences with both water and heights was surprised at how smooth the Capital Wheel was. It was very romantic and peaceful. The “car” or whatever you call the sitting areas on the CW were clean, wiped down and air conditioned. They take their cleanliness seriously from what I’ve heard which makes me feel safer as a customer. Definitely would go again.

PS: if you’re wondering whether or not you have to print the tickets that have been purchased online, YOU DO NOT. They’ve made it to where you can skip that sometimes intimidating ticket line and simply scan your QR code at the entrance of the...
