The crown jewel of National Harbor is its stunning waterfront promenade. The serene waterfront offers a mesmerizing backdrop for leisurely strolls, with its array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. From upscale boutiques to charming cafes, there's something for everyone here. The iconic Capital Wheel stands tall, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area. The entertainment options at National Harbor are second to none. The MGM National Harbor Casino beckons with its lively atmosphere and gaming excitement. Read moreA bizarre fenced-in tourist trap masquerading as an "American" experience. It feels like a sterile, transplanted and cleaned-up section of Baltimore dropped in the middle of underdeveloped PGC. There is one way in and one way out - the highway. Public transit access is poor, parking is overpriced, restaurants are marked up even further. You can get cheaper food on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan than you can in this uncanny slice of modern development, which says something regarding the markup. If you are hungry, you are much better off wandering into Alexandria or NoVA for some real food, though National Harbor's design makes it intentionally difficult to get in or out.
Is this the "American Way", as one of its roads is called? It is hard to believe this phony resort is close to world-class museums and history in nearby DC - a city it desperately hopes to align itself toward.
Let's face it - you're here for a convention, and may even be here on industry dime. I try to enjoy it for what it is, the place does offer some public artwork and outdoor spaces for free - but this tourist trap fails to capture the spirit it...
Read moreA great place to walk around and enjoy the warm weather. There was a baseball game showing on the big screen and plenty of spectators. During the summer months, free movies are played on the screen, just bring a blanket or a foldable chair. There are a nice variety of restaurants to grab a bite and a kettle corn stand selling fresh popcorn. The Gaylord Hotel has a nice bar area and during certain times of the year, there is beautiful decor set up in the atrium. You can sit and relax in Adirondak chairs on the grounds to take in views of the Potomac River. Parking in the garages is quite pricey, so I suggest taking the NH1 or NH2 bus from Old Town Alexandria. The bus stop is about 1-2 blocks from the main strip and it is a quick, easy, and cheap ride. You can also take the watertaxi from either the Alexandria or Georgetown DC waterfront. That's the most expensive option, but it is an amazing ride. I suggest you DO NOT patronize the Potomac Gormet Market. One of the employees was very rude and quite unprofessional. All-in-all, it is a great place to take the family and enjoy a nice,...
