This place was a win win from the jump. I knew 45 days ago that I wanted to stay in National Harbor this specific weekend but was unable to afford those prices that were quickly increasing for hotels. Out of nowhere this place shows up in my search although they wasn't open yet. I took a chance because it was scheduled to open 1 week before my travel date and I was sold by the brand.
In these heightened times of Covid, I just wanted to be safe. I read online how Hyatt Hotels would follow guidelines and specs regarding COVID and social distancing requirements and they did.
This travel date and rest was a surprise for my husband so he had no idea where we were going and staying.
As soon as we pulled off the beltway, this hotel was the 1st visible. Convenient 10 minute parking for loading/ unloading, superfast check in with great welcoming staff especially Michael.
Very reasonable parking prices ESPECIALLY for National Harbor! $20 overnight for parking garage closest to hotel!! Remarkable!
Total wow factor upon entering my room. My room number was 600 and the views were amazing! The room was spacious, inviting and well decorated.
The bathroom was almost the length of the entire room. Spacious shower, plenty of wash towels and quality toiletries.
We left out to dinner and returned back and experienced a small snafu with room key, Brittany was downstairs to help and she did so immediately. She was very nice and offered to come all the way up with me to make sure my key was working.
We toured the gym and it had everything that anyone would need from yoga mats to weight benches. It was very inviting with street views.
The on site restaurant was so inviting and ended up saving my late night evening of hunger. Very spacious lounge area w plenty of seating, a nice bar area, nice views for people watching or Potomac River viewing. They have outdoor options for street view as well as river view. I ordered some tater tots and my hubby ordered a personal pan pizza. Soooooo good!! Ted was there to take our orders and make sure everything was prepared to satisfaction. He was very kind and helpful.
Breakfast the next morning was nice but very limited. My husband enjoyed immensely. I believe he had a egg, cheese and turkey bacon breakfast sandwich. I had dry cereal. The breakfast sandwich, dry cereal, milk and maybe another juice was all offered. I'm confident that will improve w time.
Check out was a breeze. We were assisted by Ebony who made sure we were quickly taken care of and on our way.
I whole heartedly would stay here again and I highly recommend to everyone to visit, you went be...
Read moreThis was a wonderful stay with a wonderful view. The rooms are clean and the hotel has a wonderful ambiance. The staff at the front were literally so kind and welcoming. They were one of the best parts of my stay because they greeted every time I passed. Now. Story time. I attempted to patron their restaurant. It’s dim and clearly casual. I had bought a drink earlier in the day from their bar and it was made really well. I attempted to return to the restaurant area in the evening. It was basically empty with the exception of a few people at the bar in jeans and sweats. There was no hostess, so I assumed I was to seat myself. However, I still made sure to go the bar and ask permission to sit with my food. I had a small container of sushi and intended to purchase more food and drink from the restaurant. As soon as I got myself seated and situated, ready to eat, a waitress came and asked me to leave due to my having outside food. I felt this was so wrong because it was inconsiderate and embarrassing. I took the initiative to ask, was misinformed, and felt it was highly unnecessary to be asked to leave when I had been nothing but, polite. I then went to the front desk to ask about this and was reassured that I should be able to eat there without an issue. (Because it truly shouldn’t have been an issue!) The officer on duty (who also agreed that it shouldn’t have been a problem) was nice enough to double check for me and came back to let me know I could not return to the restaurant until 10 PM. $1200 for two nights and I couldn’t even sit inside the hotel anywhere to eat. Yes, I asked them was there anywhere I could sit and was told there were benches by the water. I think that this is BEYOND RIDICULOUS. I intend to contact their corporate office. I completely understand the having rules for their restaurants. However, the situation was so handled distastefully. How do you disrespect and embarrass a hotel guest for simply sitting quietly and attempting to eat small sushi salad. You would’ve thought I had done something wrong or personally to the waitress who asked me to leave. I took my business to another bar although I was staying at this hotel. As someone who supervises an entire team of customer facing associates, this was so wrong. Ruined my solo trip and evening honestly. Be kinder to people! You literally do not know what they are facing. The ambiance and view could never outweigh a situation...
Read moreHope to change this rating by the end of this stay. Decided to stay at a Hyatt Place which is what we typically do when traveling with kids and getting multiple rooms. Our preference is always Hyatt Regency. Anyway, we chose to stay at the National Harbor Hyatt Place mainly because it’s close proximity to the water and it’s one of the newer properties at the National Harbor. One of the rooms we got the previous night, the night attendant was polite and the check in was seamless. Today attempting to check in to the second room, I was not greeted by the front desk attendant Monica. I spoke and I tend to bypass people’s initial rude demeanor because, we’re all going through things, I mean, our main reason for the trip is a death in the family. Upon checking in today, with Monica, For whatever reason, my bank decides to put a spending limit on my own money, go figure. I did ask why the payment had not gone through on Hyatt’s website as I hadn’t received anything saying it didn’t. I got some rude response that I don’t even remember. As I attempt to transfer money from one account to another, in which I explained, my family lets me know I was receiving all sorts of evil eyes and eye rolls from Monica. Mind you, I told Monica to help whoever is next to not hold up the line. Every other person that came in besides me, non minorities, were greeted cordially. I’d hate to think that in an area that is predominantly minority, minorities are being discriminated against, especially by another minority. Minus the Covid years, Hyatt is my hotel of choice in the United States and sometimes abroad. I’ve spent lots of money with this company over the years. I expect better...
