I was in the Malabar Home Depot Sept 19th to purchase a microwave. I found there were three "in stock" ones available. I chose one but needed the dimensions I had to wait about 15 minutes to find a staff member to assist. The staff member started looking it up. Then the phone rang. The staff member answered the phone, while I'm standing there and was on the phone about 10 minutes, put the phone down and went to look for his supervisor. I waited about 15 more minutes before she came back to help me. I was getting irate but completed my purchase and left. When I got home, my neighbor came over to help me get it out of my vehicle and out of the box. I noticed the back of the microwave had a huge dent in it. I had to leave to pick up my fur baby from the groomers and called Home Depot enroute. It takes 20 minutes to get to the groomers. It rang the entire time. Now I'm really losing patience. I left the phone ringing while I went inside to get him and returned to the car with the phone still ringing. I drove back home and no one answered in this hour long ordeal of waiting. I called back four times, waiting a minimum of 30 minutes each. The fourth time someone actually answered and I was livid. I insisted they come out and pick up the microwave because my neighbor had gone to work and I couldn't pick it up. A very nice staff member (Gina), drove out to my home to pick it up. She was super nice and informative and helped me return the microwave. Unfortunately for me, they did not have another of the same model in stock. I had to return to the store to get a refund because I used my Debit card. That was not a big deal since I had to pick out a different microwave. Again, no one around to assist and I had to walk down every isle to ask someone to call for assistance in the department I was in. Still waiting a staff member finally showed up. I had found another microwave and needed those dimensions. And then......the phone rang........he picked it up. I must have been bright red at that point. 15 minutes, two other staff members came and asked if I was with him and I said I'm not with anyone, he's on the phone! They walked away. I finally said FORGET IT, I"M GOING TO LOWE'S. And that's what I did......I made the decision right then and there that that was the LAST time I will make my larger purchases from Home Depot. I was elated with the experience at LOWE'S and they have won my business from now on. Home Depot, you need to train your employees better. IF a customer is in the store talking with a customer, your staff member SHOULD NEVER answer the phone leaving the transaction pending. That is the most disrespectful thing...
Read moreI am writing to complain about the Palm Bay store on Malabar Road. Due to the unavailability of a personal cashier and being forced to do self check-out, I canceled the sale and went to Lowe’s. I will tell you why.
While the sales person tending the self-check out was too busy chit-chatting with two other co-workers, a young boy scanned a snickers bar. The mother was trying to delete the sale and tried to get the attention of the sales person. I was waiting to use the machine. The sale person didn’t come around but rather tried to talk over the other customers. Finally she had to come around due to not being heard, then go back and clear out the item so that I could then use the machine.
When I started to ring out my purchases, one item double scanned. Again I had to interrupt the sales person due to her continued conversation with other sales personnel. When I finally got her attention, she came around then had to go back to her station to clear the item. I hit finish and pay.
All of a sudden the sales clerk said, “You got a lid for that bucket?” I said, “Yes, is it additional?” She said, “Yes.” So I attempted to scan the item. Of course since the machine was now in payment mode, an error was created because I tried to scan another item. The cashier came back, didn’t say anything to me, just grabbed the lid and huffed and walked back to her station.
I said, “Just cancel the whole sale. This is ridiculous! I will go to Lowe’s.” I walked out and I will not return.
Another point to bring to your attention. While I was shopping, I managed to catch a sales associate and asked them about available medicine cabinets. She said to me, “If you go to the kitchen area, there is a woman sitting down who has all of the option available in all the stores and online. She can help you.”
I went over and the lady was busy with a sale. I was left to wander around looking for someone else for assistance with no avail. The first sales person should have brought me to the kitchen area and when we found the sales associate was busy, she could have sought me additional help.
Total lack of customer service by Home Depot. Lowe’s is now my store of choice and will certainly verbalize my experience to any interested parties. Oh and the pest defense I was looking to buy was three dollars...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went to our local Home Depot to look at cabinets and get a quote on new cabinets for our home. We had already been to IKEA and Lowes, making Home Depot our last stop before we made a decision. We already knew what size cabinets we needed, and after looking on the website had confirmed that not all the brands had the same style of cabinets available to purchase. After looking around the kitchen area we walked to the Appliances area and found a lady who said she "didn't work that area, but could get someone over who does" and paged overhead. About 2 minutes later a lady walks over with a very annoyed look on her face. I tell her we were wanting to look at cabinets and get a quote. I told her I knew what sized cabinets we needed and asked which brands would have a 30 wide 84 tall 24 deep pantry cabinet. She flipped through 2 books (Kraftmaid and Thomasville) and told us all would have what we wanted. So we started looking and turned to ask her a question and she had disappeared. When we went looking around we found her sitting at a desk in the flooring area. I could understand if she had customers already, and told us so, but there was nobody at her desk and from the start she acted as though we were there to waste her time. We promptly left and decided to go back to Lowes where we were not treated differently because we look a little young and decided to spend our budget at Lowes.
tldr: If you look young, expect to get rude/no service at...
