Petco — Local services in Palm Coast

I have some concerns with the false advertising that I have experienced on the last two " events" I brought my dog to. A few months ago I went to a "Free Sample Tasting Event". There were only a few cups of dog food samples (only one type) and no treat samples. Today I again brought my senior dog to the "Petco's 60th Birthday Bash". The " " was on my daughter's email that said " Bring your dog for tons of fun festivities". The message also said go wild on a scavenger hunt, have a ball with games and giveaways, score photo ops with your pet, free dog food tastings and the first 60 gifts score a free goodie bag. When my daughter and I brought our dog to Petco we were again disappointed. My daughter mentioned it to the polite worker who opened up a treat bag and gave our dog three treats and three tennis balls. The kind worker also gave my daughter a bag of three tennis balls. The worker had no idea that a "60th Petco Birthday Bash" was scheduled for today August 16th. I don't know why Petco keeps advertising "events" that they don't plan on executing . I also am a rewards member with PetSmart so now let me tell you about my experience with their "events". Last year in November PetSmart advertised through email about a " Photos With Santa" event. We signed up, got a confirmation paper with awesome coupons. The event went on for two days. There were long lines but, they kept with everyone's time reservation. The workers were polite and friendly. "Santa" even was wonderful with our dog and we used the coupons before leaving the store. We had a great time, got adorable pictures of our dog with Santa and bought a lot of toys, dog bones and treats as Christmas gifts for our dogs . I am beyond appalled at the way the exotic animals, namely the reptiles and amphibians are being cared for. If you go on Petco's corporate wedsite, based out of San Diego, it has a 1/2 a star overall rating. Not surprisingly this rating is in stark contrast to the rating the general public sees on there "offical" website. The overwhelming majority of the reviews on the corpirate site are about this exact topic. When numerous people search out the corporate site then spend the time to write 500 word essays about this you know they have to be mad about something that is obviously problematic throughout petco stores. Well, I am too. After they have received thousands of complaints they still are not treating these animal right, they often don't feed them properly and those that don't starve to death often die because they are not getting the proper temperature/humidity required for the species.If a dog, cat or even bird was being treated this way in view of the general public there would undoubtedly be legal consequences. They cancelled and rescheduled my dog for a quieter timecuz I said he was a little leash reactive. While waiting online my dog was quiet. Another little dog approached and growled at him so he growled back. The girls proceeded to say they dont take those type dogs and they even mentioned a muzzle which they don’t do and my dog never has had that happen to him. They advised me to get a mobile groomer and they will not take him at their location. My dog is 9 and has been groomed since he was a puppy. We’ve never had a problem. The girls seemed like they were in a bad mood, were very unfriendly. What really made me upset is that they rescheduled the aggressive dog (something about meds) and cancelled my 2nd appt. It took me an hour there and back and almost 20 minutes to check in and they cancelled. I’m turning I drive over to PetSmart, told them my dilemma. They walked my dog thru the grooming stations and not a peep from him. He also went straight into the cage and laid down. It seems your employees were not skilled enough and handled it inappropriately. Especially recommending a muzzle and Mobil grooming!
