Outstanding Park!!!!!! Best Playground I've ever seen at a city park. Only thing better would be something at Disney (if that can even top this). Only one flaw, there needs to be an attendant (preferably a security attendant of some sort) whose sole purpose is to govern the playground. This way when the occasional person that comes in with their dog, or riding a bike, or if there is some sort of bully situation with the kids, the attendant can nip the situation in the bud. There's hours in the evening when teenagers are mixing in to the playground. Some can break the rules (like I've seen 6 foot teenager standing on zipline seat and bouncing). Some nights they play full blown soccer in the castle area and zipline area. There have been times when I've seen kids almost get hit, as these teenagers (what appear to be age ranges 13-18) are playing a full blown game of soccer, kicking the soccer ball at normal soccer speed. These are situations where a security attendant can address as it happens. Many parents may be uncomfortable confronting these teens as some of them give off the vibe that they will be argumentative. I understand that there is a person who comes to check on the trash bags, etc... and yes, this person corrects mistakes that he sees (or at least he's supposed to), but this person is a park maintenance man, meaning he's going around the whole park. Many times, he misses things in the playground because he not there. What I'm suggesting is that there is a dedicated playground security assistant whose whole shift is at the playground. My kids and I have had many great experiences at the playground, but I've ran into occasions where I've seen kids getting bullied, teenager arguing with adult while the adult has their toddler with them in hand, people riding bikes, etc..... This would be solved if the park had a dedicated person to ensure safety. Otherwise, GREAT PARK, by far the best playground...
Read moreIf i am only reviewing dog park or gets 2 stars. But added another 2 star bc I do love the whole rambling place in general and depend on the amazing amount of distraction it can provide, even if you wanna remain solitary. Ive grown fond of this big city type park. The dog park still underwhelming and wish rules followed better. The kids parts of park are amazing....must see...wish I could turn my good little servicecdog loose in there one day lol. It's also super looked after and safe... I live pretty much across the street from it and I can say that easily and with surprise and gratitude. Thank you city of Palm Coast
I gave it 2 more stars bc at least they put a fence up around the pond so you can decide whether or not you want allow your dog into the water that day. Even if you have good leash free control of your dog it's a hassle to have to turn it into a constant stress point and recall. I can't imagine a dog park that was more poorly designed. I probably don't have to put a lot of detail into this review but there is a detention Pond that has a fence around it that they call a dog park. All the poop, parasites and pesticide and rainwater runoff goes right into that detention Pond the dogs drink from it and swim in it and one dog died of leptospirosis and many others got sick. If you want your dog to end up at the vet this is the place for you. If you're Lucky all your pet(s) will do is come home with an ear infection skin problems puking and diarrhea, like my guy did. The little dog park may be okay because it is separate from the...
Read moreI LOVE the newly renovated James Holland park! The playground is a kids dream- here's some of the new additions: Zip line (AWESOME!); sugar mill plantation themed play set with slides, ropes, bouncy bridge, tunnels and hide aways and so much more; swingset, climbing wall that will even challenge teens; rock walls everywhere made to be climbed; sand pit with sensory table; spinning umbrella playset and probably more I've forgotten lol. For the parents the great points are as follows: working water fountains; plenty of benches situated all around the park; nearby pavilion for events; astroturf on top of rubber surface= no bugs= yeah!! ; 2 picnic tables in the playground; open until 10pm with plenty of lighting all around; newer safety gate with pull up safety latch on top of the fence and TIRED KIDS after a visit lol. The basketball courts have been moved to the front of the park to discourage inappropriate behavior which i think is a wise decision. There was plenty of parking- and the park was very busy (re- opening weekend). The only real con i could find was that there was very little shade. There are some shady spots but we went during the heat of the day and didn't last too long. There's future phases that are going to be added- the screenshot below is from a city newsletter dated before the reopen ( so don't be confused when it references the park as being under construction. The park is OPEN now with so much more to come. Already best park in PC!They hit it out of the park...
