Read moreI have never bothered to leave a negative review anywhere, but I felt very compelled to write a review for Comic Emporium because they are selling fake Magic: The Gathering cards as real cards. I came into this shop in December, since I was in town in Panama City, and I bought a Maze of Ith here from The Dark. It was overpriced, but I didn't mind paying a little extra to support a local business. When I got home from my trip, I offhandedly noticed that the Maze I purchased seemed a little weird. It failed both the Green Dot Test and the Light Test. I compared it to the other cards I have from The Dark, and it did not match in any way. I took the Maze to another card shop where I live, and they quickly confirmed the Maze was fake. I called Comic Emporium to inform I had purchased a fake card at their shop, and I was treated very dismissively. The man on the phone said they would not guarantee a return. Next time I was in PC, I took the Maze in anyway, and the man behind the counter inspected the Maze and told me it was real. I proceeded to leave because I was honestly fed up with the experience, and I took it to another shop in PC, which agreed that the Maze was fake. I've attended Magic tournaments in PC, and I've been told from others that this is not the first time this shop has sold fakes. If you'd like to shop here, I'd recommend...
Read moreI've been playing tabletop RPGs for over three decades, and I've lived in a lot of different places. I'm fortunate to have a great gaming store where I live now. I've also lived in places that lack one entirely, or have one that just makes you sad to visit.
With that background, I can say that I'd be proud to call Comic Emporium my "home store." Yeah, you can get your comics there, and from a good selection of new, vintage, and collectible on offer. But for me, Comic Emporium is a grade-A gaming store!
Loads of stock on the shelves for RPGs, miniatures games, and board games. Great play spaces. They even have some LARP attire and gear!
Add to this that the owner is a super nice guy and that the family is involved in the shop and you've got yourself a real gem of a place.
If you're in the area even just to visit, stop by. If you live near this store, why aren't you there right now?? GO PLAY...
