Took in a lifetime alternator I purchased 6 months ago or so I remember, I didnt have my receipt and we could not find the purchase logged under either my dads, mine, my sisters, or my granddads number, apparently thats not relevant, bc He couldn't find the history for the no questions asked warranty provided by a nice lady who i believe was named Angel, for my 2000 f350 alternator almost 8 months ago. Neither did I recieve an email when I warranteed that alternator. Its only relevant bc I left in anger to prove it was purchased from them. Both o reilly and advance said it was not their manufacturer. The alternator sku proved it was autozones, when I returned, I was called a liar bc the alternator had rust on it, I was mocked for not knowing whether my car was a 3.0 or 3.3 (I did smart off at this point bc its the only car I have walmart change oil in) that I've only owned less than a year (I bought it from my sister who owned it for almost 9 yrs) and after finally acknowledging it was theirs and scanning the legible barcode that they refused to scan during my first visit after I pointed it out, I was told the the alternator was discontinued and they could not warranty it. This individual was extremely large, overweight and in his 60s, I wish I would have caught his name but at the last attempt to shoo me off I was infuriated. Autozone was in a lawsuit for selling lifetime parts and failing to keep records more than a few years then turning away customers that had lost their receipt. Such a nasty human being, I only got as far as I did by calmly calling all his attempted brushes but when he scanned the barcode and carefully chose 1 of the 6 alternators that resulted from the search. Then telling me its discontinued, I was exhausted and I knew I wouldn't leave with my replacement even if I exclaimed that it was irrelevant, lifetime isn't circumstantial nor is it the customers liability when they do an update. My dad and I both switched from advance just for autozones mandate to keep records, i immediately called my father who is a loyal and frequent customer since 2015, he was shocked, ive never been treated this way by an autozone employee, I suppose their is a first...
Read moreIn August of 2022, my car wouldn't start while I was parked right behind Advanced Auto Parts. ( I know, this is a review for AZ -bear with me! This is the context)
I thought, Luckily, I'm right by Advanced, so I walked to their store and said this: "Hey! My car is parked right behind here and won't start. The lights do still come on, but there is no sound when I turn the key. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do?" He looked at me and said - "I'm not a mechanic" 😶 He suggested I get jumped off and sent me on my way.
Feeling a little lost, I fumbled with a few of the fuses hoping that was the issue. After 30-mins of sitting in the hot sun, she finally started and I drove straight to Autozone.
When I walked it, I repeated the exact same explanation to your staff and without a moment of hesitation, the gentleman grabbed a few devices and went straight to my car. He first tested the battery - and as he was doing so noted that it was leaking and overheating. (It smelled like rotten eggs). He said he was happy to also test the alternator, but in his experience, that was the culprit. He was so kind, knowledgeable and quick.
We went back inside and he collected everything I needed to get the issue fixed. A new battery, alternator, and a rental belt removal kit. (~$600) Now my car runs as good as new!
(I hate I can't remember his name, but he has glasses and longer hair - wearing a ball cap! fantastic human)
I don't expect any of these businesses to drop everything they're doing and come outside to fix my car or completely diagnose every issue that it has. I can say that ever since I lost my dad in 2006, I've relied on the knowledge of these businesses - and always appreciate when they are able to use their diagnostic tools to assist so I don't have to drop large sums of $ just to find out what a small issue is.
I'm grateful that these employees at AutoZone have been thoroughly trained and are always willing to go out of their way to help someone - especially someone who doesn't know much about cars :)
Thanks again AZ! I'll definitely remember this anytime I need to purchase...
Read moreMy daughter had a headlight out on her 2015 car. The staff looked up the options and realized that her model had 2 different types of bulbs (one was $160, the other $35). To determine which one she had, he needed to look at the bulb that was out. The only way to get to the bulb was to remove the Car Battery, in order to just get to the bulb. It turned out to be the cheaper of the 2. The Autozone employee, went ahead and changed out her bulb, reinstalled the car battery, and reset the warning lights, that showed a bulb was out as well as the. warning light (that showed battery had been disconnected). All for not extra charge. VERY satisfied with level of personal service that was given. I was very grateful that they did not over sold her, and that they did more than they had gone the extra mile and installed the bulb. I use to think the auto parts store were all the same, but as for Paris, AutoZone is...
