I walked in to this store and was greeted with "what do you need, can i help you with something?" Not the kind of greeting for a customer but i think i was viewed as some homeless transient looking for a bathroom or something. I tried talking to one of them but felt as though i was bothering him as he was short with me and couldn't be bothered to talk much. There were no other customers in the store but not one single employee wanted to engage me in any way. I browsed the store for a bit and was ignored. There were 4 or 5 employees including the owner and they were busy conversing among themselves. After about 15 minutes of feeling out of place i simply walked out unnoticed. I'd have to say they lost a sale and a potential customer but maybe they're doing so well that they just dont care. I recently brought my 1991 Peavey Fury bass to Bentley Guitar Studios, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. Ethan did a full overhaul. Replacing the input jack, adjusting the truss rod, action, and saddles, setting the intonation, cleaning and testing all the electronics, maintaining the tuning machines, and fine-tuning the nut slots. Every detail was handled with care and precision.

Now, the bass plays and sounds like it’s brand new. The tone is tight, the setup is perfect, and it just feels alive again. Ethan’s craftsmanship and attention to detail really shine through.

This is my favorite guitar shop in the Kansas City area. Worth it to me to make the 45 minute drive because the staff are incredibly friendly, service-oriented and knowledgeable. Their repair work is first rate; I’ve trusted them with vintage Gibsons and newer guitars, and they handle everything with the utmost care and precision. If you’re shopping, they stock a nice variety of guitars so you can try everything from electric solid bodies to hollow bodies and a great range of acoustics, folk instruments and vintage gear. They keep their guitars in optimal playing condition so any time you want to try an instrument, they’re set up really well and highly playable.
