Del Mar Station in Pasadena surprised me — the architecture has a relaxed, almost Mexican charm, with tiled paths and archways that make it feel more like a courtyard than a transit stop. Trains on the A Line come through regularly, and it’s an easy spot to hop on if you’re heading to Downtown LA or exploring Pasadena.
A good tip for visitors: you’ll need to walk through the station if you’re trying to cross the railway lines — there’s an overpass that connects either side, but it’s not immediately obvious if you’re unfamiliar with the area.
There’s a small park nearby that looked a bit rough when we passed through — we noticed a few unhoused people and a light police presence. It didn’t feel unsafe, just something to be aware of, especially if you’re walking alone or at night.
Overall, Del Mar Station is a functional, walkable transit hub with a bit more character than you’d expect, and a useful connection point if you’re staying or exploring anywhere near...

There was another person that appears to be homeless or mentally ill who only had a towel and only wearing a speedo boarding the train towards Long Beach. Definitely interesting. I was heading towards Azusa. Due to maintenance around Monrovia, trains were being delayed to come every 12 minutes. When there's maintenance, the arrival time displayed cannot be trusted as it can come earlier or later...
Read moreStation is great but parking structure is horrible. There are multiple dead-ends, a real lack of signage for drivers, not enough room to maneuver in and out of regular parking spaces. There was a Mini Cooper parked in one of the labeled compact spaces and it barely fit! This garage is worse than the one on Colorado. Also would not feel safe in this structure alone as a woman if I couldn't park near...
