Game Mania — Local services in Paterson

I had a really disappointing experience here. It’s a nice store, but the staff came off as rude and aggressive, and the environment felt tense and unwelcoming. They gave me one price on the phone and gaslit me when I came in person after driving over 12 miles to pick it up, asking if I “had a recording of the phone call” sarcastically and scoffing after giving me a price 3 times higher. My friend and I know what we heard over the phone.

I imagine the borderline post-apocalyptic state of the neighborhood influenced their responses as they are expecting people to come in and cause trouble, but I was really just trying to check something and they essentially laughed me out of the store.

I’d be surprised if this review makes any changes though, they just seemed pretty miserable and jumpy.

Edit: After reading the owner’s reply, I’m even more confident I made the right call by walking out. I came in with a simple question and left feeling disrespected. Now, just look at how he responds...

Yeah it's all good with it's old games and the prices of some games but dont ever buy a brand new game from here. I honestly don't know what it is like if they just get the cheap RIP off of the new games but the games will never work like they are suppose to. It will freeze, the loading will take a year, if u turn the brightness up u will see in the background it says youtube, Netflix, hulu, stream TV, ect... If ur planning on buying a game from here wait till someone sells it to them from gamestop or else u will regret wasting $62 on a brand new game. Ur better off going to gamestop for a...

Not sure why I thought I already wrote a review but it must have slipped my mind. I originally called game stop in Passaic and they recommended this place . I haven’t been downtown Paterson in so long I completely forgot about them and they’ve been here forever!!! Long story short my son’s ps5 HDMI port was completely busted and they replaced it $140. No complaints at all it works perfectly fine. They are very nice and very respectful. Thank you guys, we'll be back...
