If you ever move out of county, it's best you transfer earned credit to the community college in that county.
Options are either take the placement test at the main campus of that county or take the SAT test (out of high school). SAT test is digital now. If it's been a long time, you took the SATs. Seats fill up fast and find the Testing Center location closest to you. There's the College Board and Khan Academy website.
Do not fall for anyone saying /thinking if you live in a different county and still attending Pccc as a student. You'll be paying out-of-pocket more, and it'll cost more bc you moved out of county.
To transfer from a community college to a university, you will need to research the requirements of the university you want to attend and ensure that you meet them. Generally, you must complete a certain number of credits, maintain a minimum GPA, and fulfill any prerequisite coursework.
This is not true * AI Overview: Affordable Tuition: Even for out-of-county students, PCCC's tuition can be lower than other community colleges...
Read moreToday, I accompanied my brother to his ELS (English Language Studies) Placement Test. We got to room M240 around 5:45pm. PETE was at the reception. I told him that my brother was there for the placement test. He said he barely will have an hour to take the test and if he would like to come back instead. I said that he still wanted to take the test. He asked my brother if he speaks English and he nervously said "a little". Then, Pete suggested for him to just place my brother in Level 1. I said that he would still like to take the test (it's free and it's better to have an accurate assessment of his knowledge). This seemed to bother him, I guess he didn't like my brother coming at almost 6 to take the test (he had called before to ask if that was OK and he was told that yes, it was OK). He told me that MY BROTHER SHOULD FILL OUT THE APPLICATION BY HIMSELF THEN, WITHOUT MY HELP, BECAUSE IF HE CAN'T, HE SHOULD GO TO LEVEL 1 BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE GUIDELINES OF THE SCHOOL. I didn't know my brother was going to be tested since he's walking in to fill out the application! Now, this got my brother extra NERVOUS. When he handed in the form, PETE told him to turn off his cellphone. My brother was nervous and just stared at him, that's when PETE YELLED AT HIM "TURN OFF YOUR CELLPHONE SIR!" My brother knows what that means but he had already got him nervous with what he had said. This got me so upset because it was so rude. There was no need to scream. IRONICALLY, PETE WAS CALLING FORMER STUDENTS TO RETURN TO PCCC AND THAT HE WOULD HELP THEM. I'm sorry, but if you want to be welcoming to ELS students, then have someone that speaks Spanish or that at least is NICE at the Reception!!! I had no problem a week before, when a VERY NICE AFRICAN AMERICAN LADY helped me. I get that ELS students come to learn English but that's why they are taking a Test!!! They shouldn't be tested since the time they walk in. According to Pete, those are PCCC...

You get what you put into this place. If you have other options, check them out before coming here. It's not terrible, it's just a tough environment to want to go to every day when you don't HAVE to.
STAFF (2 out of 5): Are some of the staff members rude? Yes they are. But I grew up in Paterson so, unfortunately, I'm used to it.
If you're expecting a college that will hold your hand every step of the way, this is not the place for you.
I often had to figure things out on my own & ask a lot of questions even if you feel like you're annoying the staff members. As for the
TEACHERS (4 out of 5): There are "easy" professors and there are the super strict ones. Learn to deal with these different types of authority figures because that's what you're gonna deal with in the work environment. In my 70 credits, there was only one professor that made me hate showing up to class and I ended up failing. 1 out of 35, I say that's pretty good!
LOCATION (1 out of 5): Paterson is terrible. Needless to say, please dress accordingly ... Also, tuck your jewelry, And keep your hands inside your vehicle. The Wanaque campus is really nice, but out of the way if you don't live in one of the nearby towns. Also, you have to go to the Paterson campus for just about...
