I love Aldi. The average Publix shopper might complain about "renting" shopping carts or the way you have to bag your own items, but you get used to it very quickly once you leave with a cart FULL of food for just over $100... And it doesn't matter how long a check out line is, the cashiers move very quickly and you never have to wait long. They've also recently installed self-checkout aisles so if you prefer not to deal with anyone you have that option. I've never had any issues with items being out of stock, the employees are all friendly and I've never once seen anyone with the "I hate my job and you" face that you see on employees at other grocery stores. Aldi is also a great place to find unique gifts and household items. The best part? THE CHOCOLATE. Dear Lord above, the chocolate. Just about everything is imported from Germany or Switzerland, so the taste and quality is just to die for. If you're a fan of chocolate and you haven't been to Aldi during Christmas or Easter, it is IMPERATIVE that you...
Read moreGetting very frustrated with this store not following food safety guidelines. I cannot count the number of times we’ve had to replace milks that are bloated with bacteria growth before being opened. It has been months of this happening, so I can only assume it is due to improper handling of food products at this store and not a manufacturing issue considering none of the brands have experienced a recall in the past year. I’ve also experienced similar spoilage with food purchased at this Aldi, but nothing like how frequent it is with dairy and non-dairy milks. I live less than 10 minutes away so I’m not leaving my groceries out to spoil, either. Attaching a picture of an oat milk carton purchased yesterday, difficult to note bloating via photo but it is unopened and also leaking due to so much pressure inside the carton. This is the third carton I’ve had to buy in a week due to all of them being contaminated. Again, this has been...
Read moreI, like nearly all others, found it strangely difficult to break from my grocery store mold. My first visit to Aldi was confusing, and maybe a bit frustrating trying to find all I needed. Once I arrived at the checkout, however, I was blown away. I had bought my groceries at at least 3/4 of my regular cost. At that moment, much like when when I spoke to what would be my wife after moving across to ocean to Italy, I had to make it work. Over the next week, I would be pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the seemingly alien brands of the same food I'd always purchased, often finding it to be even better (though sometimes not). Months later, I'm a big believer in this store and what it has to offer in the way of savings and quality. It has helped me mitigate an enormous cost in my budget, cut out the excess, pulled me out of the comfort zones I had been lulled into by shopping at Publix and...
