My girlfriend and I just visited here for the first time today. I'm getting back into Magic for the first time in years and years, so we looked up card shops. This one came up, so we checked it out!
The guy at the counter was wonderfully helpful. He described what the store has to offer, such as the TONS of cards from all the major games, including Pokemon which my gf is big into. They also have lots of gear for protecting your purchases, such as sleeves, deck boxes, and binders.
Card Addicts hosts tournaments too, which occur pretty often (more than weekly) and have sizeable prizes for winners!
As a teaser, one of the tournaments he mentioned had rules like this: You get a point for playing any game against another tournament player, up to 5 games per week. You get another point for winning. The whole tournament ends in 6 weeks. So... The winner (most points) is often somebody who puts in the time to play, as opposed to somebody who has the bankroll or years and years of experience. It's a very cool way to set up a tournament, and makes it much more forgiving to newcomers trying to learn. Grand prize: a booster box! Normally $100 box that has around $150 worth of booster packs (if counted individually) inside. Perfect for an upcoming player!
While we were there, around a dozen players rolled into the store; they appeared to be gearing up for a tournament, which I saw had a $5 pay-in. I didn't catch what game, however. There's lots of seating and space for players, too, and some friendly banter thrown around between players, employees, and others. It's a good environment!
Booster packs (modern ones, at least) generally run you $4 even... After tax. So, that way, you can know exactly how much you're spending. Everyone knows TCGs are an expensive habit!
All in all, excellent store. I can't wait to go back!

Read moreIve been to this store a couple times and the lady that works there is very kind. Recently, I have been blessed financially so i have been buying more singles for my collection ( i bought around 2300 in singles Saturday and Sunday at a card show in Vestavia and a card shop in huntsville)
I still am looking for some more singles for my PC so I picked about about 1200 in singles in their case. I had cash for what i picked out but i couldnt help but notice while I was in the shop, that there was little to no sealed pokemon product in the store. I still have 27 ETBs sealed and some 151 UPCs so I offered to help this store restock at a 75-80 percent of market price in exchange for some singles they had. And can you believe they demanded 60 percent because quote 'they are a business'. The employee failed to see the irony that their pokemon business had no sealed product to sell. I tried to explain to them that I was trying to help and that they would still make a good margin as I am very successful doing this myself. I made 4-5k profit selling sealed of mine this weekend alone. After the shop still refused, the greed of the owner struck a nerve with me so I figured I would rather buy my singles somewhere else.
BTW, to the employees working tonight, if a man walks in a card shop with an over the shoulder purse, strapped to his chest, it is because they have so much cash to spend it won't fit in their jean pockets. Learn how to spot a whale when they walk in. You guys missed out on...
Read moreCard addicts is by far my favorite place to go for all of my gaming needs. The owner and staff always go the extra mile to make sure you're getting what you need. Ethan does an incredible job of making it feel like a family environment where I can even bring my kids to play pokemon. Frank has a great head on his shoulders and always seems to be able to balance customer needs with shop resources. Natasha goes the extra mile to make sure the pokemon plushies are a great variety of choices and reasonably priced, Jessie, Luke, Gabe and everyone behind the counter are incredibly attentive and will help you find the exact right card. They're also friendly towards kids and incredibly patient with them asking questions. Andrew, Robert and everyone working behind the scenes to fill online orders or deliver in store orders have an encyclopedic knowledge of the cards you order and will go the extra mile to make sure they get it right. The store also has a great selection of RPG books, dice and an awesome selection of miniature paints and models, including Games Workshop and Reaper products (and even badass custom hand painted models for sale!). I always love going to this store because it feels like they really care about the customers. There's plenty of play space. It's also clean and well lit with cases featuring especially rare cards and unique items from local artists. Well worth your time, check out Card...
