TBS Comics & Games — Local services in Pensacola

I want to give this store a positive rating. I really do. But it is just so damn disorganized. Comics are placed haphazardly or oftentimes in the wrong spots entirely. In hindsight, this is quite baffling, because the Fort Walton TBS location, though smaller, is quite tidy and well-arranged.

I do want to make one thing clear: this store almost assuredly has the comics you're looking for. It's just that you're not going to find it unless you are willing to spend at least several hours sifting through merchandise crammed so tightly into boxes that said sifting is nearly impossible. And God help you and your soon-to-be-aching back, because no small amount of the comic boxes are on the freaking floor.

For comparison, Covert Comics out in Foley, I would say, is roughly comparable in size to this store, but they have even more comic merchandise because they do not have dedicated spaces for tabletop gaming, which TBS has aplenty (and is quite the draw for that location). Despite this, however, they are highly organized and compartmentalized when it comes to their comic book merchandise, and if a store of such sheer bulk can do that, then other comic stores like TBS really have no excuse.

Back issues should be easy and painless to peruse. Regardless of what some may say, most people do not mindlessly sift through boxes hoping something will catch their eye. They are looking for specific titles and numbers and making it even marginally easier for people to find what they are looking for can only mean good things...

I've always wanted to go inside to see what TBS had to offer, but the store moved to the current location. Let me assure everyone who may read this, but this IS the one stop place for your gaming needs! They have games from A to Z , and everything else in between too. The staff has been super great! If one goes in and tells them what they are looking for the find it, or can order it. The other thing is they ship from the other store, and in my case I was told it may be the next day, but no later than Monday. I stopped in on Friday, and by Saturday night my request was already there, but I wasn't expecting it until Monday! I'm not sure if they set up times for game players to play, like rent tables, but every time I've gone in, there has been at least 2 or 3 tables with games going on. One time they had a competition going on, and I was invited to come and watch! I always thought I was the only one in our area who liked to play card games, miniature games, and board games, but there are lots of folks who play. My choice is Star Trek Attack Wing, and TBS will always have my business long after this game stops making material for it. I just can't express how much of a Great Experience it has been going in to see everything, the players, and the staff. Please stop by, and take it all in, and you, the reader, will not be...

Sooo... I don't know who this Kevin Johnson guy is (but, all of my techno-savvy skills point to it being a fake account), but I've been to a few gaming stores all over Pensacola, through the past 14 years, and I've never had as much help and assistance from any other place as I've had there.

Being a person who is not exactly a social butterfly (more often than not, I don't talk to anyone), I was welcomed with open arms and glowing smiles from all of the personnel who work there, and can actually count more than a couple of them as friends. Although I don't buy many board games, table top games, or comics (I get far too bored reading comics), it is still a place I can go to and feel comfortable and welcome.

The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable on a multitude of products, and the few times that I HAVE bought a board game, I've bought it through them because I can just say, "Hey, (insert name here), what do you think of this game? Is it like Risk? Maybe Monopoly? Is there a version of it that comes in Hello Kitty motifs?" and I always get a polite answer, an explanation of the game, how it works, and they don't even make fun of my fondness for eccentric materials.

So yeah... gotta love...
