My daughter and grandsons tried Po Folks today and let’s just say we were not impressed. We asked to be seated in a booth because we had a baby and needed to use a high chair to prop him up. The waitress instructed use to flip it over so it would hold the car seat better so we did. We order our drinks n food and was waiting and chatting with another waitress while we waited. After 15 mins the waitress informed use that we could not seat here because the high chair was in the isle and it was a hazard. Mind you 15mins had already passed. We were told we had to move to another table and the baby’s car seat has to sit on top of a regular chair that did not secure him at all. We asked the waitress could we speak to the manager so she proceeded to go inform him that we wanted to chat with him concerning this matter. He did not know that I was standing at the kitchen door and overheard him yelling at the waitress about the matter. He never came out to chat with us at all(unprofessional) because it was not busy at all. The waitress asked a guy at the front to come speak to use and this man tells us it’s against policy to have a car seat sitting on a high chair in the isle but we could sit the car seat in a chair not secured and that was ok. I asked him to show me where the policy says this is not a hazard and that it’s safe. He could not. None of this was right. After we got our food that clearly came out of a frozen package that was not tasty at all the manager that we originally asked to speak to came out the back to walk food upfront and decided to talk about the situation with the other gentleman but could not look our way. Very Unprofessional and this is bad business. A manager should never be to busy to speak with a paying customer. I will never show my face in this so called establishment ever again because it is clear that the manager needs to retraining on customer service and on how to talk to his employees and the other guy needs training on child safety and what’s company policy. No Southern...
Read moreConcluding my active-duty service, my family relocated to FL. In our quest for a pleasant dining experience for date nights, we stumbled on Po' Folk’s restaurant. We frequented the establishment several times & extended invitations to out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, during one visit with our guests, we encountered disappointments - cold food, incorrect orders, & even an oversight regarding my daughter's allergy, despite prior warnings. This experience led me to refrain from returning. In October 2023, we opted to give Po' Folks another chance. Our visit went well, albeit a minor error in my order. However, on a subsequent visit, we encountered an unexpected closure, which was frustrating considering our lengthy commute. Following this incident, I reached out to inquire about their closing times & was informed about their tendency to close early due to low customer traffic. We attempted another visit, only to encounter more issues - an odd restriction on my husband’s order, missing drinks, & extremely soft prepared gizzards. When I brought this to the waitress's attention, she acknowledged the kitchen's negligence & offered to rectify the situation. Disappointingly, the second attempt to prepare the gizzards resulted in an unappealing presentation, prompting me to request their removal from the bill. While paying, I noticed the discrepancy in pricing for my meal (even though the gizzards were returned to the kitchen, I was STILL charged for them) coupled with the unsatisfactory resolution, led me to reconsider patronizing the establishment further. This sequence of disappointing experiences shed light on the restaurant's apparent struggle with customer service, possibly contributing to its perpetually sparse attendance & sporadic early closures. It's essential to treat patrons with respect to maintain success in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, Po' Folks have overlooked this fundamental principle, resulting in our decision to discontinue...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in this this establishment. When we first arrived, we waited almost 10 minutes to be seated due to the waiter being more concerned with organizing the menus and ignoring us than taking a minute to seat us and go back to what he was doing. First red flag that the customer is not a priority. After we were seated he took our drink orders right away yet took almost 15 minutes to come back to our table (after bringing our drinks) to take our order. We ordered an appetizer and were also ready to order our entrees but weren’t give the chance. As soon as we told him the appetizer he disappeared for another 15 minutes. We saw him again, ordered our food, where I clearly stated three times that we wanted brown gravy because we don’t eat white gravy, he even repeated it back to me. When our food finally came out, he brought white gravy and the order for my boyfriend was wrong. He ordered red beans and rice as one of his sides and got gravy and rice instead. When we finally flagged the waiter down, after waiting far too long, yet again, we told him what was wrong. He brought a bowl of brown gravy out and lied to us stating his red beans and rice was still cooking and that’s why he didn’t get it. After we were almost done he brought the red beans and rice out and it looked absolutely disgusting. They must have microwaved it or something. It was crust on the edges and you could tell it was old by the look of the rice. The macaroni and cheese had the nastiest after taste, like it had been sitting in a warmer all day and wasn’t even hot when it arrived at the table, along with my cabbage. I’m not a fan of hot fried food but cold sides. We will never return to this restaurant as it had been a year since we visited previously and were disgusted at that time. No more chances for PoFolks, I have no desire to pay for...
