Mr. John is an incredibly gifted human. I’m leaving this review as someone who didn’t give him anything beneficial nor money for him to take. All I gave him was question after question in which he diligently answered while imparting his decades of knowledge to me, while I only hoped to retain 1/10th of it. I cost him tons of work time while he freely gave away valuable information to someone trying to get into a dead hobby of people my age and younger. (35). I could tell he really wanted me to be able to fix what I had even though he wasn’t going to be gain a cent from it.
I can tell from the reviews most everyone that speaks with Mr. John instantly realizes what kind of human they are getting involved with. Diligent, dedicated, and great at servicing electronics. The few negatives you see about timely returns and such….Before you leave a review like that you should have understood what kind of business this is before you took it in. It’s no secret return times can be slow or even wrong. It’s because you're getting a single man doing what he loves and catering to everyone walking through that door at the cost of his own time.
When I ultimately bring him a project I decidedly can’t handle myself I will gladly leave it with him for a year if it so needs. Knowing what kind of work I’m getting and what kind of human he is to everyone through the door will allow me to be a little more patient.
Mr. John, if you read, this thanks again for the time today and the priceless knowledge and stories. I’m sorry to hold you up with my questions. Turned out I have two shorted Transistors. I’ll be waiting for them from Mouser. Hopefully I get it sorted out and if I don’t you’ll be the...
Read moreJohn may be a great guy and all but HORRIBLE service! I dropped off an amplifier to his shop 7 months ago in February. I called about a month or so later to check the status of repair and was told he was working on it and would call me back. Never did. I called again about 2 months later and was told that he would call me back by Friday. Never did. I call again 2 months later and was told the part has some glue from manufacturer that was hard to remove but he would call me back to let me know if he could get it off to repair. Never did. This month I decide to go by to check on my equipment and was told it could not be repaired. So, you're telling me that it took 7 months to find out that you could not remove glue! This is the biggest rip off I've ever experienced! It's OK if it could not be repaired but be considerate of customers time as well and at least call back as you stated...
Read moreThe address for John McDowell electronics provided by google is incorrect. It is actually on McCallister Street, north of Pensacola Regional. This guy has been in business in Pensacola for over 15 years and has more than 30 years experience. I had broken OEM CD player for a 93 Ford Mustang which I could not find an original replacement for. I searched and searched for a replacement working CD player but could not find one. After calling several car audio installers in the area who did not do repairs I was referred to John by one of them. Just like the other reviewer said it may take John awhile to repair your unit, but I am positive there is no one else out there that is better at their job. I highly recommend John especially if you have any vintage electronics that...
