First off I would like to say when I go into a buffet my expectations are always insanely low. I have been here many times and I finally must leave a review because they have gone so down hill. I had food that was clearly spoiled after tasting it. Some was not spoiled but just been sitting out probably for 6+ hours. After eating some and really not enjoying any of it and my girlfriend eating maybe 1-2 bites of hers we called it quits and went up to the front desk and told them about the food thats gone bad. I offered to pay for my buffet and the drinks but not both of the buffets bc my girlfriend ate absolutely none of it. Mind you I have been a cook for the past 6-8 years of my life. I feel as if I have a fine pallet when it comes to foods that have gone bad/spoiled. I tell the front desk, they go ask some dirty guy in the back with an apron on covered in food looks like this guy hasnt showered in a week or so if the food is ok. Which he replies yes of course. He proceeds to tell me the “chef” has said everything is fine and I am wrong. I tell him that there is no possible way my cream cheese is suppose to taste like old sour cream. We get into a little argument then they threaten to call the cops if we dont pay. Are you serious? Then all of the servers crowd around to listen in and talk amongst themselves in there own language laughing and staring at us. I dont mean to assume but it definitely didnt feel as if they were saying anything positive about us. Finally the guy calls his manager and guess what. She says to just make us pay for one buffet and both drinks. All that for what? Maybe $6 worth of food that we ate in total that I was willing to pay $25+ for? Well...
Read moreI've been to a few different Chinese buffets in Pensacola over the past few years, and with trying them all I decided that Chow Tyme was probably my favorite. Now, understand that it is a chain style Chinese buffet, and with that comes some of the typical types of food you'll see, but I believe they do it well.
The price is decent. It'll be about $11 for the buffet at least during lunch. They have a pretty big selection of foods to choose from though so that's the payoff.
Service is decent. Nothing I've really had to complain about there. They do their job for the most part.
The decor is decent as well. Nothing too special, but it doesn't look bad and it has some nice accents here and there.
The food is obviously the best part. They have some sushi (even though it's buffet sushi it's not bad), your typical food like general Tso's, sesame, honey, and bourbon chicken, beef and broccoli, cream cheese wontons, etc. They have an American style side which has rolls, pizza, meatloaf, and other things along those lines. They even have a salad bar and dessert bar. I usually go for the more "traditional" Chinese buffet style food, and I think it tastes great when I do. The fried rice has been some of the better buffet fried rice I've had, though it can be hit or miss sometimes.
This is a favorite of mine to come to when I visit Pensacola, and I'm sure it'll...
Read moreChow Time Buffet: Get ridd of rude wait staff, actually have the waiters check on the customers without the customers having to run them down to get a refill on drink. Get ridd of rude management. Stop the staff from pretending that they do not speak or understand English. Fix the holes in the seating booths and get the dirt and food out of the hole in the seating. My husband and I had lunch and the waiters brought the check while we were still eating and stood there waiting so I went ahead and paid with my charge card. A little while later the waiter comes to the table with another bill, I told her that I had already paid, she acted like she didn't understand what I was saying. I told her that I was not going to pay twice. Still "no understand". I went to talk to manager and showed my paid receipt, she acted like she didn't understand. I asked to see the charge receipt that was brought to the table for the second charge. She said, "no have, no understand ". I left and called my charge card company. They checked, and found that Chow Time charged me two separate charges, 10 minutes apart. Chow Time charged me twice! My card company said they would put the second charge down as a fraudulent charge. So, Chow Time charged me twice. They are rude,...
