The Man Cave Cut Shop — Local services in Peosta

After almost a year, I decided to give Man Cave Cut Shop another shot following my previous 2-star review (Below), and I’m happy to see clear improvements. Last time, the lack of professionalism and the presence of teens and kids was a big issue. Now, things have changed for the better. There’s been a noticeable shift in personnel, and the environment feels much more professional. Jaden was fantastic—professional, prompt, courteous, and great at engaging with her customers.

The owner's children did make an appearance but were kept in a separate waiting area, which helped maintain the shop’s professional feel. It's clear they’ve worked to address some of the concerns, but the shop still feels more like a "young man cave," geared toward teens and children rather than adults.

I also want to mention that the owner reached out to me personally after my initial review, offering me a chance to return, but I declined at the time. Now, I can see they’ve made meaningful changes.

I also noticed their recent marketing around a Daddy-Daughter class, which is a great idea and a nice touch. It shows they’re trying to cater to families, though it might not fully appeal to adult men looking for a more mature vibe.

Original Review: Place cluttered was full of teens/children and people just hanging out. It’s a small shop no room for observers/loiterers. My appointment was 20 minutes late. The cut was marginal at best, mostly used the clippers barely touched the scissors. The quality would be comparable to great clips or cost cutters. But the price is not. This is a kids and teens barber shop, there was no real attention to my beard during the beard trim. She did manage to get my mustache off my upper lip as requested. The Man Cave Cut Shop in Peosta is a great small two chair barber shop. I walked in about three months ago and the were able to get me in for my beard trim. Jaden McMahon sat me in her chair and although I had a vague idea of what I wanted, she asked me the right questions to get me to what I wanted. I have been going back since and will continue to do so.

Update: 2/28/2025 Again, Jaden McMahon did an excellent job with my beard. I go once a month to maintain my beard and it always looks amazing after she works her magic, she always makes sure I leave completely satisfied. I have and continue to give five stars to The Man Cave Cut Shop.

I just cannot say enough about Jaden. At this point she knows what I am looking for, knows what I like, and fullfills my requests if something isn't quite right. She is also just a wonderful person. Always smiling, and seems genuinely happy to be doing what she does.

Huge shout out to Heather at the Man Cave! I have been getting my haircut by Heather since she opened and she never disappoints on the level of service she provides and quality of haircuts. The real game changer for me was last October I got married and asked Heather if me and a few of my groomsmen could stop in the morning of the big day to get lined up, beards trimmed and hair styled. Again, she knocked it out of the park! Myself and the guys loved being able to relax, play a few video games enjoy a beverage or two and not have to worry about our beards looking fresh or having our hair styled properly. Heather takes pride in the work she does and made sure all of us were looking fresh.
