Alphabet Soup Thrift Shop is a non profit thrift store owned by Petaluma Education Foundation. This is the second store this organization was able to open. Their first location is a couple stores down on the same block. This is one is Alphabet Soup at Home. They specialize in more home goods and houseware like furniture and books. It was actually their original location before they opened up a second thrift store dedicated to just clothes and accessories. Other than the nice employees that work there the funds made at these businesses go to the foundation as it has been serving 13,000 students every year which include scholarships. You can also volunteer for these thrift stores and work as a cashier or merchandiser! At the clothes store in particular I had come in with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the layout. It wasn’t too crowded and all the sections were obvious which made it easy to navigate. They put paper signs and printed bold letters on the front of each rack to describe the section of clothing. They also have a very nice designated children’s section with toys, books and clothes. They had a very nice shoe selection, but expensive for a thrift store. The crowd of people that were in here the most were women and a lot of youths and young adults. This shop is located on Western Avenue in Petaluma right next to the Petaluma Market and St. Vincent De Paul Church. There is street parking. They accept cash and card as well as contactless payment. They are open seven days a week 10am-5pm. To the beautiful people of Sonoma county and visitors abroad, I didn’t have a bad experience here. It was a clean store with nice clothes. It was a little more on the expensive side for a thrift store, but they have great items and sometimes vintage treasures.

I come in the store quite frequently I love looking at the store for many years. I simply bought some tools which I never do but it looked like they were in good shape. I asked the gal at the front. Had they been checked over to see that they are I’m in working condition and try them out. I was assured yes and so then I purchased them Not Anyone’s to blame, but after charging all the batteries all night long, they still really are not working they barely come on at all which an electrical tool will do me no good if it’s not working. I called just to find out what the policy is and I got a very accusatory. Defensive reaction from the manager. I was simply trying to find out what their return policy has is something not working as to I did spend $60 which is a decent amount of money Taking them back is now going to be an uncomfortable experience I can tell And almost making me not want to return back to the store I wasn’t accusing anyone I am simply Asking what the return policy is . Hopefully the gal was just in a bad mood. I don’t know, but I probably will avoid coming here for quite some time. After I return these. And then ask me if I had charged them when they were obviously battery operated. Of course I charged them ma’am

I stumbled upon this thrift shop while walking around Petaluma over the Memorial Day weekend. They had a sale going on, and I ended up finding some really pretty dishes at great prices. The staff were super nice, and I loved that they used recycled paper bags to pack everything—it was a nice touch. The only small thing was that the bag didn’t have handles, so it was a bit awkward to carry. But overall, it was a really lovely experience. I’d definitely stop by again if I’m in the area.

I've been to alphabet soup charity clothing store too many times to count. The last time was a few days ago. My mother & I hadn't been there long when she had an emergency. I told the ladies she had an emergency & could she use their restroom. They said the closest was Petaluma Market. I implied she couldn't wait that long. They just shrugged their shoulders. My mother was distressed. She told them she wouldn't be back. A man who I feel fairly certain worked there, then mocked my mother. We walked home, which is close to the distance it would have been to the Market. My mother has not only been a customer of theirs for years, she also sends her nieces there when they're in town with plenty of money to spend. My mother is well known in the area, having lived here for many years & managed a well known antique shop for numerous years. Here's the deal, she may not remember what happened, but I will. When I'm in town, I will discourage her from going there, but if I can't, be assured I will not spend a dime there. I will also be sure to pass on the "uncharitable" behavior of this charity to all of my many family members who live here. This will not break the bank, but it will leave this charity name tainted. P.S. If you really don't have a restroom on the premises, shame on the employees for not convincing me & having such a cavalier attitude about an elderly woman...
