I was looking for a place to have lunch while visiting Petaluma and Stockhome caught my eye. I don't think I ever saw a Swedish restaurant before and had to try! It's got such a comforting, cozy atmosphere and the staff were friendly and efficient! I got to try three dishes.
The kebab plate with lamb and fries was very good! The lamb was tender to the bite and seasoned very well. The fries were crisp and salted nicely.
The wienerschnitzel was fantastic! The pork cutlet was thin and very crispy while the potatoes were flavorful from seasoning. It also came with a gravy with sweet notes of flavor that paired so well with the savory pork. Squeezed some lemon over everything and it brought it all over the top!
To end the experience, I had their Swedish pancakes. It was made so thin, it reminded me of a crepe. It tasted so good especially with the berries and the exceptional whipped cream all in one bite! Not overly sweet, just right!
I washed this all down with a Swedish soda flavored with lingonberry, which was so refreshing, and wished I could try more dishes! But I knew I had my fill. If I'm in Petaluma again, I'll definitely want to...
Read moreWe had a very unfortunate experience at Stockholm on Friday. We were excited for a meal there with our two kids. The food was wonderful, the ambience was lovely, but one staff member's treatment of our family was so hostile and unpleasant that we will not be returning. At the end of the meal, when our kids went up to the candy bar to peruse the choices, our 8 year old pointed at one candy jar, causing the lid to fall off. The young woman working rushed over and angrily accused our kid of sticking her hand in the jar, chastising the child, and demanding we pay $90 for the full contents of candy. When our 12 year old - who was immediate adjacent to the jar - informed the staff member that no hand went anywhere near the candy, she was also chastised. The staff member was rude, disrespectful, and ruined the entire experience. When we politely asked to speak with a manager and/or view the video footage from a camera immediately over the candy bar, the staff member reemerged and refunded the $90 without an apology or speaking to any of us. Too bad. Such a nice place, but cannot recommend to anyone who...
Read moreThe food was honest, tasty, and varied, but the hyper-casual counter service approach felt underwhelming at the price point. Despite that I will be back for more from the tasty menu.
Our meal was pan-European: We started with a meze plate, then had Swedish meatballs, muscles & fries, and pizza. We finished with a tart and sweet crepe for dessert. Everything was delicious - the muscles were the highlight, with a creamy white wine sauce that had us guessing at spices. The meatballs seemed a bit stingy, but they were rich and filling. The pizza was adequately thin and looked good. And our two desserts shared between three people were good enough to start a fight.... 😋
The staff were helpful and patient as we finished dinner past closing time, but they seemed stretched thin and were grateful for our table taking care of itself with grab-your-own settings and water.
It got a Michelin Bib for a reason, so...
