Only giving 1 star because it doesn't allow a 0! There is NO RESTROOM!!! I knew someone who worked at a thrift store in Kansas that learned their lesson and finally opened up the EMPLOYEES ONLY restroom to the public after customers kept peeing and pooping in clothing for sale on the dressing room floors. I have an overactive bladder and when I need to pee, I need to do so now! UPDATE: in response to the owners reply... Nice try Gold Mine owners. But check out the law! I DID inform your employee at the checkout counter that I knew there was an employee restroom and that I have a medical condition. She told me that I could go back and knock on the door to the back room where the employee restroom is, but that the gal back there would just yell at me! Well, I do plan to return to your store, and you just might wish to review the Michigan law with all of your employees before then because if I am treated the same way again, I WILL DEFINITELY report you to the EEOC and Michigan Attorney General. Copied excerpt: the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) covers restroom availability in businesses in Michigan: ADA requirements The ADA requires businesses that serve the public to provide accessible restrooms. This includes having a toilet stall for each gender. Michigan law Michigan law allows customers to use a retail establishment's employee restroom if certain conditions are met. These conditions include: > •The customer has a medical condition or uses an ostomy device The customer has a doctor's statement > The employee restroom is not normally available to the public The employee restroom is not in an area that would be a health or safety risk • A public restroom is not nearby Penalties Businesses that don't comply with the ADA can face serious consequences, including fines, lawsuits, and bad PR. The ADA is a federal civil rights law that aims to ensure people with disabilities have the same access and opportunities as everyone else. UPDATE #2 Apparently the employees were not advised of the law. When I went in today I was told that now the restroom is not functioning due to plumbing issues. Maybe truth, I am doubtful though. The employee I spoke with claimed that the employees themselves have to go downtown to the chamber of commerce which is a whole half mile away. I also believe that not only does this situation violate the ADA, it also violates employee rights as well. I will need to ask the EEOC about that to know for sure. I'll update as more develops. UPDATE #3 Did my due diligence and research. Yes, not having a functioning restroom for employees IS in fact an OSHA violation. Also, since retaliation against employees from their bosses for reporting such things, a non-employee complaint report can be made to OSHA and they will investigate the issue then. I decided to contact the Women's resource center and spoke with the Director who oversees the store. She assured me that any plumbing issues would be looked into and managers and employees informed of the ADA. I asked her to give me a follow up call and that I will look forward to returning to their store in the near future. Watch for more updates...

Rachel was a superstar in my time of need! She gently placed my scooter and bag behind the counter and was extremely kindhearted. I am a very loud person but I am trying to take example from her demure nature. I was stranded outside of town. Good Friday prevented transport and I left my abuser (Landlord) and came to the shelter after going through 3 years of homeless living in Detroit. I have seen many types of people. Even though she was very busy her helper was unsuccessful at helping even though she tried to her ability it WAS extremely challenging at the time for miss Norma. Rachel was very busy but it was no affect to her patience and attention. She was so caring and made sure I was warm and let me use the internet as long as I needed without hesitation. Well over an hour. The day was long cold and hard. A Christian woman stopped at the steps near the side of the building and saw me crying. Not long after Rachel forgot to wear a coat and offered to have me come in and get warm without a single secret thought of keeping herself warm as she held her arms around her body and shivering trying to help me with staying warm and safe. She has a huge heart and I see so much good in her. I thought she was the manager!!! (She deserves a raise!!! She even let me know her co worker was a good person because I am hard around the edges when hurt or threatened. A flight or fight response I am training to be like. I want to be like Rachel. Please let her know she was my hero that day and I saw her working hard without a hint of slowing down or distress and without judgment or bias. A modle employee.

This resale shop is SO pricey, but I love that the profits from this store go to the women’s resource center. Wow, unfortunately the manager is RUDE and extremely unprofessional! I had the WORST experience there today. I put an item on hold and needed to arrange for transportation and measure my space to make sure it would fit. So I said I would be there in a few hours to pick it up and pay for it. They agreed to hold it for me, but when I came back to pick it up the manager was SO mean and harshly told me she just sold it to somebody else bc they had they paid for it immediately. No honor system and as an assault survivor myself it was very alarming especially the way she spoke to me. If she had approached it in a kind way I wouldn’t have felt so incredibly triggered. Please consider training your staff better and help them be survivor informed! The way they treat people reflects on your...
