I signed my lease at Edgewater with full intent and excitement to live here. I was the first tenant in a brand new unit and was drawn in by the two months free and the promise of âluxury living.â Unfortunately, what I experienced was the exact opposite.
Since move-in day, Iâve had ongoing issues with hot water. Showers would cut off after 7â10 minutes, forcing me to go to my boyfriendâs just to take a normal shower. It honestly felt like being back in a college dormârushing through your shower and praying the hot water doesnât run out. After multiple maintenance visits and even a full water heater replacement, the issue was never resolved. At one point, my shower literally broke mid-use, and I was told maintenance couldnât come because it was after hoursâdespite 24/7 maintenance being part of what they advertise.
To make matters worse, I didnât have real heat in my apartment for almost two months during the winter. I was given two space heaters and told to just deal with it essentially. This is not only unacceptable but also concerning from a safety and quality-of-living standpointâespecially given what I was paying.
I brought all of this to management, hoping for a fair and reasonable resolution to part ways with Edgewater. Instead, they offered to waive an early termination penaltyâbut only if I repaid the free months of rent and gave 60 days' notice. Essentially, they expected me to pay out the remainder of my lease so they could re-rent the apartment. Thatâs not a compromiseâitâs offensive, especially given everything Iâve been through.
This building brands itself as luxury and advertises 24-hour support, but my experience has been anything but. The dismissiveness from management and the complete lack of accountability has made this one of the most disappointing living situations Iâve ever had.
Would absolutely...
Read moreI love my new apartment at Edgewater II. The location is absolutely perfect. I feel close enough to center city without feeling overwhelmed by it, and the river trail is right next to my apartment.
The apartments are soundproof. My neighbors have a dog and watch TV against a wall I share with them, and I cannot hear a thing. The building is well maintained, safe, and full of friendly people.
I have to give the biggest of shout-outs to Carlo in maintenance, who has fixed several issues I had due to my moving into a new apartment. Every single issue was addressed the same day, sometimes even immediately. I have never encountered this level of urgency or professionalism at any other place I have rented before. He is incredibly thorough and kind and has resolved all my issues perfectly.
The leasing agents are all wonderful and friendly. Big shout-out to James, who led me through the leasing process and was so patient with me when I decided to switch apartments prior to signing my lease.
Also, the people who work at the front desk are all so friendly and accommodating. DeShawn even helped me into the package room and offered to assist in carrying a large package I had received to my apartment with me. He is amazing.
The package room is secure from package thievery. I've had no issues whatsoever.
I love this place. I cannot recommend it highly enough. There are so many shady apartments in Philadelphia, even ones under the guise of luxury living. Edgewater gets all the big and small stuff right and makes it seem effortless in the...
Read moreContext: Wife, nanny, and two infants in penthouse apartment for 2 years. Over the years, I have lived in 7 different apartment buildings in Philadelphia or DC. The Edgewater is the best placed I have lived. Other places I lived may have had a little bit better fixtures or maybe more helpful concierges (calling you a cab, when we still used them), but Edgewater had the best overall package and living experience. Great neighbors with a mix of elderly people, yuppies, and young families like my own of all races and ethnicities. Frank and his maintenance team were attentive and friendly. I only had one delayed maintenance issue (leaking ceiling) out of the 10 or so things (lights out, door handle fixing, etc) over my 2 years living there. Concierges were helpful and some went above and beyond, one or 2 were not that great, but overall great. However, the most credit goes to the new building management (Trisha in particular). They were exemplar and should be a model for how all management should Interact with residents. Flexible and responsive beyond expectations. I donât even want to list in what ways for fear people will abuse their generosity. Letâs just say they made it a great living experience and facilitated our lease end as we moved...
