EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING & WATERED DOWN LIQUOR. 5 ladies between 32 & 50 just wanting to hang out around 7pm on July 3rd and have a good time out and this place was at a FU level when it came to the drinks. Ordered a Mojito = NO MINT, ordered margaritas = very watered down YUCK, ordered Jack with ginger = TRASH, again watered down, ordered Vodka with pomegranate w oj = NO pomegranate, apple martini = NO APPLE OR APPLE FLAVORED anything. We sent them & whatever drink the bartender offered back after 1 very good stir & 1 sip BECAUSE OF BEING WATERED DOWN. Corona on tap = VERY WARM. Kona Longboard = HOT. The 5 of us were like this can't be real? It shows that ownership/management ROYALLY SUCK and don't care to make a run to the local supermarket for fresh fruit/produce. Btw, WE WERE THE ONLY 1S IN THE BAR, every1 was outside eating. That should've been our warning. No way this business should stay in business and WE will do everything to spread the word to everyone with an ear to listen & for those to read & STAY AWAY. With all the food, which was ok, nothing special & later beers we ordered we simply gave up & walked up a few blocks to another bar. The bartender was EXTREMELY APOLOGETIC for running out of supplies BUT his helpers had plenty of time to make a run for those supplies but instead they chose & begged for this and many other negative reviews. Seriously, b4 u sit at the bar or table, ask if they have the ingredients for your drinks and try it in the presence of your waiter / bartender & if your drinking beer tell them if its warm U DONT WANT IT & SEND IT ALL BACK AND WALK OUT. There are so many other places that are so much better within walking distance that would love to have your $$$$...
Read moreI came expecting the greatness I read and saw online and became extremely disappointed by every minute that passed. I came to get tacos & margaritas. The margaritas were ok, a bit on the sugary side, but drinkable. The tacos were mid. The meat was mushy pork/chopped chicken with all the toppings and really didn't have any flavor profile. The wings were fried good but tiny like my pinky finger. The bar was full, outside tables were full and the restaurant was being serviced by one bartender. People were now at standing room only.
Bayou Restaurant next door is connected and they had 25 cent wings and a line to get in. Now the bartender at Cactus Cantina had one bus person to help and serve for about 20 minutes. Then the owner from Bayou took the bus person while his bartender was already behind. I watched service decline and several customers became disgruntled but we tried to be understanding. Left a sour taste in the service Id thought I'd get. This was during the week, so there's that.
All of my years as a bar manager in this city and we are still not up to par in proper management over making a quick buck. Kudos to the bartender who held down the restaurant. Yet, he should've had more help or the company need to hire. As an influencer and reviewer on all things Philly lifestyle, I don't make myself known nor did I take any pictures or video for social media. I was highly...
Read moreOur server was perfectly friendly, and that’s the only positive thing I’ll say about our dinner. There were two other sets of customers in here when we arrived on a Monday night. We placed our order, and then I watched the other customers experiences, which inevitably turned out to be our as well. I observed the first set of customers hardly eat any of the food that they ordered and the second set of customers sent their food back. I should’ve taken that as a sign and canceled our order, but alas, we stuck it out as I already parked and paid the meter. Our food arrived, which was delivered through the front door of the restaurant so clearly it came from the kitchen next-door. I believe this restaurant and the one next-door have the same owner but I found that weird that the food had to be carried physically outside of one restaurant and back into another. We ordered a steak quesadilla and steak tacos. Upon inspection of the steak, it smelled and tasted off, so I attempted to eat the quesadilla cheese and beans but even the cheese tasted strange. I was so worried that I was gonna get sick that I just gave up. My husband was a trooper and ate his steak tacos but he also agreed they were not good. I’m glad to report neither of us did get sick thank goodness so there is a bright light. It’s hard to mess up very basic Mexican food, so just wanted to share...
