This review is based on three recent visits to the Ikea restaurant. The first two visits (on weekdays) were fine. It's hard to beat this place for a quick inexpensive meal. Their salmon dishes and Swedish meatballs are great. They also have very good soups, salads and deserts. The coffee is at best, mediocre. My third visit, on a Saturday afternoon was extremely disappointing. It seems that at least on this day, the restaurant was severely understaffed. The self serve salad and desert cases were nearly empty, they ran out of clean drinking glasses, there were no forks, the coffee machines were completely empty, and the entire dining area was filthy. Every unoccupied table was an absolute mess. Two stars for the restaurant, one extra star for the amazing view of the SS United States. 4/2023 - Our last two visits were much more pleasant. Previous issues seemed to have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped by the IKEA restaurant early in the day while shopping for a new place ā needed something quick and filling. We came as a party of two: one of us ordered the classic meatballs and the other got a salmon dish. Even though the meatballs had just come out, they were already dry, which was disappointing since they're usually a favorite. The mashed potatoes on the side were watery and ended up diluting the gravy quite a bit.
The salmon looked great and tasted how you'd expect ā fresh and light. We also grabbed a Daim cake, but it was already sweating, possibly from the humidity or sitting out too long. On the plus side, service was quick and polite. Itās a standard cafeteria-style setup, so expectations were modest. The self-serve drinks are always appreciated, especially on a hot day. Overall, a convenient stop, but the food couldāve been better this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA sad, poorly stocked cafeteria: half the selection of foods compared to what you would find in an European Ikea Cafe. The only reason I used to come was for the smoked salmon plate and a free espresso with a membership card. Since they cancelled the free espresso drinks (come on, how many pennies did each one cost them really?) I have decided to both stop eating here and to cancel my ikea family card membership. The membership provides absolutely no other benefits and it just allows Ikea to farm your data for profitiablity studies and marketing research. I'll exchange my personal data for an espresso, but not for the tasteless brown water they brew as "American...
