I never had an issue with living at any units during my years of studying at different places until JG Real Estate. I have a 12 month lease agreement with them and within 4 months in I brought attention to a small flood that was coming into my room to a maintenance guy in mid December and was told will be addressed once he went back to the office. Until today has not been fixed or been told what will happen next. I have been given multiple appointments where they would come look at the issue and people would not show up or cancel literally 3 minutes before pulling up. I have had a flood that damaged my personal belongs as well as furniture and was told I will get none of it reimbursed. I tried to be reasonable and ask for my 3 months of my portion of rent to be used when the living conditions are habitable and my leasing manage refused to cooperate or be fair. I brought attention to this matter while being in dental school and seemed like the company could care less when multiple people would be CC'ed in emails and videos of leaking tiles and red mold are visible and would be told there is no mold and was given a humidifier to "fix" my problem. I know of other classmates who are in shock that I am going through this and say none of this would happen at their units with their landlords. I would not recommend JG Real Estate unless you want to pay for people who are unresponsive and show little to no care when you bring urgent matters to them that affect your health. I will make sure to let people know about my living conditions with the company. It has been over 3 months where the serious issue has grown and the only thing JG Real Estate cared about was my monthly rent due. I would upload a video but it wont let me. Amazed at this company.

Update October of 2025 - once again J&G fails to demonstrate any sense of professionalism or courtesy by failing to acknowledge repeated requests for a repair update. There is no response, or acknowledgment of the multiple status request in their App. Property Meld is ineffective and not monitored. The washer has been defective for the past 5 weeks. I waited 2 weeks for a technician to diagnose the problem within 20 minutes. A relatively simple solution that J&G has not communicated resolution. J&G has ignored multiple requests for an update on the required repair or replacement. Failure to acknowledge or respond within a reasonable time period, once again clearly demonstrates their lack of standards and professionalism! Previous Review Repairs issues are not resolved timely, their reporting system for repairs is awful, and lacks any meaningful/timely updates for the repair. I was instructed to call the vendor directly to schedule appointments after waiting on JG to coordinate. When the vendor arrived, nothing was repaired or replaced because they needed approval that was not previously given. Apparently that approval is still pending. JG is failing to demonstrate any ownership/initiative to prioritize an expedient resolution. I have made multiple inquiries for repeated updates on requested repairs. Today begins week 5 without a functioning dishwasher: five weeks is inexcusable, but it is the unfortunate reality when dealing with JG. I wish I had this foresight before renewing the lease. I preceded my review with another request for prompt resolution.

Do not rent 1737 N Howard! Especially not 2B or anything below the top floor!!!!! The neighbors in 3B at the time we were living there are the worst most disrespectful and inconsiderate people I've ever encountered. JG does not care at all about their residents, they don't respect any signed agreements, even though our neighbors consistently broke their lease on a daily and regular basis JG did not care or do anything about it, even Gwen who wrote below did not care at all whatsoever JG is extremely disorganized they don't handle anything properly. They also did not tell us that there is absolutely no insulation in the building at all. They're trying to charge so much money for a studio apartment that they call a one bedroom with absolutely no insulation and disgustingly rude neighbors that have been complained about by previous tenants as well! They know this is an issue and they still refuse to disclose that there's no insulation in the apartment. JG is selfish, rude, disgusting, and they do not care about anyone.

My Initial experience with JG was extremely unprofessional and then after move in I had an even worse experience that will continue throughout my living here. My boyfriend and I had been looking for an apt. and each time I contacted JG the earliest they said I could view any place was weeks out. One place both my boyfriend and I each decided to contact them at the same time and they (Angie Gallagher & Alexis Rosen) told me that I couldn't see it until weeks out and the same exact people told him that he could see it THAT NIGHT. This, I feel, is highly #unprofessional and also super frustrating because if he hadn't contacted them as well then we wouldn't even had a chance to view it or get it! I don't understand how this was even acceptable! (especially since they sent MULTIPLE people to view it at the same time) We obviously both went together to see it that night and afterwards we applied and put a security deposit down. My credit and background are outstanding so we got approved right away but then I get a text saying my appointment for weeks out to see it is cancelled because it has already been secured even though, duh, my name was on the check written for the deposit! -_- This just feels so ridiculous that two people would get the exact opposite treatment by the SAME people. I am approachable, kind, friendly, professional and in no way was there any indication I should have been treated this way over someone else. Although not as important, but another clear reflection of unprofessionalism, my name was misspelled in their email to me when my name is clearly both in my signature and the sender) Danielle, the agent who showed us the apartment and has helped us is a sweetheart, super great and professional! She is awesome and made our before-move-in process go very smoothly. I was glad to be able to move into the place I did but not happy with the unprofessionalism that goes on here. The apartment was very dirty when we moved in and certain things were broken. It is also impossible to get anything delivered here that isn't from USPS. Now, after moving in I found out that we can hear every single thing the neighborhors above us do. From 3 AM - 6:30 AM routinely they are extremely loud, stomping around, moving furniture, pounding things into the wall and I get no sleep. During the day we can hear them vividly having loud obnoxious sex, stomping around, being noisy, talking, and listening to music. The ceilings at N Howard are paper thin and we had NO WARNING of this, how awful to tell people they are entitled to quiet enjoyment and not to warn people of this! I thought I was going to love it here but I immediately regret moving here! How terrible this is now I have to live miserably for a year, I'm not happy with JG for keeping this from us and making it impossible to move out unless we want to lose all our money from a place that is horrible and annoying for reasons that are not our fault at all giving no warning to us upon move in! I am so...

RENTERS BEWARE! Do not rent if a property is managed by JG. It’s an absolute nightmare. Nothing will get fixed, you won’t see a cent of your security deposit back, and the property managers are soooo rude! When I first moved in is when the issues started. The bathroom sink wasn’t even put together and they didn’t paint the walls all the way up the the ceiling in half the apartment only just as high as they could reach. LAZY! They claimed the paint was fine but came to fix the sink after a couple days. The washer/dryer was in the basement for all tenants to use and it constantly broke. Like half the time I lived there it didn’t work because they took a solid week to repair it. Half the time it was just full of coins and they were too lazy to come out and collect the money. Again lazy MF. There were multiple break ins to the building because they use cheap locks on the main door and refuse to fix it properly. We once had someone break in the building and pull the fire alarm at 3 am. They still didn’t fix the door for a couple days. Homeless people would break in the vestibule and sleep there. That’s exactly what you want in a building where you are paying $1500 a month. My ceiling fan and lights in the living room stopped working. I tried new lightbulbs and that wasn’t it. It was clearly something electrical. They refused to send out a repair guy. They said they would order a new fan with lights. Which took a month! Then when the guy came to install it he realized that it was just a small electrical issue he could fix instead of replacing it. So I waited a month for what could have been fixed in 30 mins. There was a crack in my kitchen ceiling that would rain dust (probably when my upstairs neighbor was walking around in that area) that they came out to look at and “decided” not to fix. Just refused to fix it. They change property managers like every other month so you never know who you are dealing with. One property managers accused me of breaking the washing machine by putting a Canadian coin in it but never presented the coin as proof and dropped it when I argued that I didn’t. Moving out was an absolute nightmare. With COVID I barely received any direction on their “procedures” when I called the office I was told one thing but then they would email me another thing days later from some random person I’d never heard of. In the end they ended up keeping my WHOLE security deposit. 1000 DOLLARS for damages to the walls which needed paint. PAINT!!! They just had to paint and they needed to paint no matter what cause they did such a terrible paint job when I moved in. There were no holes in the walls. No real damages. Just a couple marks from where furniture had been. Normal “wear and tear”. Then they kept the rest for “junk removal”. I left the apartment very clean. I left a few good condition furniture pieces and some art that was left there when I moved in. I called the office to make sure it was ok and was told it was fine. Now I’m told they kept the rest of my security deposit to remove those things. But when I questioned this - as things were left there when I moved in - I was just told it was their policy and was dismissed. These are just a couple of the the awful experiences I had while renting with JG. I could go...

The WORST, the most UNPROFESSIONAL and probably the SHADIESTTTTTT company to rent from.

For starters they sent my ex roommates and my security deposit in one check to her place. KNOWING me and my ex roommate do not communicate and had our issues (that they are WELL AWARE of). I have been inquiring for the past month about the security deposit and how it was going to be distributed to me. Instead of saying "hey we sent out an email asking for one address and your roommate got back to us quicker we are sending it to her", they just let me know I could not pick it up but it would be sent. After a few weeks went by I followed up and they let me know that they sent the whole thing to her and if she does not give me my portion it was not their issue. I literally have NEVER rented from any landlord/ and or company who put all of the money on one check and sends it to one person. Like I don't even understand how they think that is appropriate. Then they had the nerve to say we only send it one address. So basically if I got that email and sent my address and my roommate sent hers, they would just decided which one they are going to send it to, makes absolutely no sense. Through out this whole experience not once did anyone follow up with me (even though I was asking Chris Sytko questions about the security deposit because I was confused. Normally, a good real estate company would be following up just like they do when it comes to THEIR money. They know how to contact me when something is wrong, you mean to tell me you couldn't confirm and check with me about where you were going to send my money. Then had the audacity to give me, my roommates address that I do not like nor want contact with. Cmon you can not be serious. To make matters worse, I asked Chris Sykos (complete night mare and scammer) about these "paint damages" that were deducted from the security deposit which was 350. Prior to the end of my lease I moved out 2 months earlier and was still paying rent. I asked Chris to take a walk through with me so I could make sure everything that needed to be taken care of, would be. He told me, that they do not do walk through's with tenants (shady) but whatever so then he preceded to tell me that there were paint damages in the bedroom and living room. So closer to the end of the lease I went back and used THEIR paint that matches perfectly in both rooms. Now Chris is saying that he sent pictures of the paint damages with the refund of the bedroom but not the living room. Which does not make sense because the same paint was used in both rooms (scammer). DONT RENT FROM THESE people, they're ridiculous. The crazy part is I have NEVER even written a review because I am so "go with the flow" and honestly had they just sent my portion of the check to me, I probably would have just chalked the deduction because I do not have time. But since now I have to hassle someone I don't like down for my money and take legal actions I have ALL THE TIME TODAY. I will be taking legal...
