My friend and I ordered steamed vegetable dumplings and steamed pork dumplings as an appetizer to share. Both were made fresh and the accompanying sauce was sweet and savory...and the dumplings were served on a bed of fresh greens, so you can use the remaining sauce as a dressing for the small salad it is plated on.

For the main course, I ordered off the chef's menu; Chu Chee Ta-lay. Which was so delicate and the red curry had just a small amount of spicy burn to it; adding a boldness to the succulent array of seafood on my plate. And the jasmine rice was full of flavor. I've had jasmine rice from many other places, and this is the first time that I've found the taste playing off my palate with such care taken by the chef.

For dessert we indulged in mango sticky rice; it was my friend's first introduction to this lovely dish. He was surprised and pleased by it. And as this is one of my favorite desserts, I was happy he enjoyed it too and very happy that he said that he would order it again.

As far as the restaurant is concerned, it is located in the Schmidt's Commons area; a little gem of Philadelphia that any visitor to the area should go to if they're traveling. And for locals, it's a perfect area for a date night, to have a nice meal with friends, or maybe grab a quick bite to eat while you sit in the Piazza for one of the many events they host.

You can choose to dress up for the night, but here dressing casual is completely acceptable. As far as how this affects your wallet? You will be perfectly happy to know that with all the food we ordered; appetizers, two meals (and one off the chef's special menu), and dessert--all of that only cost us $30 per person.

I am recommending this restaurant to you, and perhaps I will cross your path because I fully plan to...

We had a craving for Thai food on a Friday night and Baan Thai happened to be near by. The reviews and the pictures did give us some expectations. However, our food experience with the food was a disappointment. We ordered 2 kinda of stir-fried noodles, one is pad see ew and the other one is pad kee mao. The noodles were overly cooked. They looked like SMASHED NOODLES????? We should have really taken picture =(((. We were like what's going on? They added Chinese cabbage to their drunken noodle which is a strange addition and it wasn't listed in the menu. We chose beef as our choice of protein. Uhmmm...should I call it beef or beef jerky because it was dry and chewy as sh....I was hungry to a degree I thought I could finish a cow but I really couldn't finish my plate of food....Now let's move on to the mango sticky rice. Mango was not peeled properly and the coconut sauce was liquidy unexpectedly. Like the dessert looked so gorgeous in the pictures on their Google page? It felt as if they didn't have enough coconut sauce so they mixed it with water. The only good thing was the sampler appetizer. The satay chicken in the sampler was really delicious. We regretted not ordering 10 orders of those instead of the noodles. Well, it was an unforgettable experience that we would never come back. Really this was the worst Thai food experience I've ever had. I only gave review once in my life so far. It was because the food was so good and this is my second time because the food was so bad. Congratulations to those people who had good...

Thai food in northern liberties. Where to begin...I am not thai and I've never visited Thailand so my opinion probably doesn't hold much weight, but I love thai cuisine and have been eating it for years.

When I go to a thai place there are certain things that I look for to make sure it is "authentic" such as the picture of the king and the silverware on the table. This place did not have a picture of the king and queen, this place had knives and forks on the table instead of a fork and spoon, which I am told is a no-no for thai spots.

Other than that, the place was ok. The food was not the best thai I've ever had but not the worst either. I ordered spring rolls as an appetizer, my partner ordered the Tom Yam soup. His soup came out bland while I got egg rolls instead of spring rolls. Wasn't what I ordered but it was good. For entrees I ordered the green curry and he had the pad thai. My curry was thin and watery and I wasn't given nearly enough rice to eat it. My partner said his pad thai was ok. Generous portions, if that is something you look for.

Service was swift and polite. Our server uncorked our bottle for us which was cool. Made sure we had plenty of water and paced our order just right so we had time to finish the apps before the entrees showed up. All in all a good spot. Affordable too.

Do yourself a favor and do not sit at the two tables closest to the windows. We did that and had to battle ants all night. This spot is byob so go to the fine wine good spirits across the street and grab some wine on...

What happens when you have a food allergy, such as GLUTEN, and a restaurant either doesn’t read the notes in ALL CAPS or CROSS-CONTAMINATES the food? Nearly ten (10) hours later you’re still nauseous and have made more trips to the bathroom than digits in a phone number. That is my sickening experience ordering Baan Thai Thai Cuisine through the HORRENDOUS delivery service, UBER EATS. What was ordered was Pad Thai with Chicken (that possibly contained fried tofu), garnished with 9 bean sprouts and a wedge of lime, and specified GLUTEN-FREE, both in the instructions, and dietary restrictions. The second item ordered, Pad See Ew with Pork, also specified in the instructions, and dietary restrictions as gluten free, was never eaten. It’s bad enough when you cannot trust that a restaurant understands the severity of food allergies. When you add to that placing your order through the consistently WORST food delivery service, UBER EATS, you are infuriated that a corporate culture has no concept of customer-centricity. They simply don’t care about anything than collecting your money. I don’t recommend anyone with a food allergy to order from Baan Thai. Additionally, avoid Uber Eats at all costs- both are literally sickening.

Top-Notch Authentic Goodness! Meat and meatless options. Chicken saté was deliciously marinated and juicy. The accompanying peanut sauce was sweet and superb. Had it with steamed rice and wanton soup because I kept it light. The rest of the party had Pad Thai (tofu) and Khao Soi. Both huge portions and tasty. Thai teas (one traditional—with lime— and one classic, more famous—with half-and-half) were delicious! Chef/owner took our order and was meticulous in respecting dietary concerns. She even made a custom wonton soup broth! That’s just unheard of. Lovely couple owns and runs the place. Friendly prices and beyond friendly staff. Eyeballing sticky rice and mangoes as well as fried bananas with ice cream for next time. Table next to us had the sweet potato “cream” puffs. Highly recommend! Definitely will be back!
