I’m newly catholic, and my fiancé worked today but he’s catholic and he begged me to please go and get ashes for Ash Wednesday, and I was so nervous I didn’t know what to do when I went in or how it worked. Two worker ladies noticed I looked unsure of what to do and came and talked to me, and got the father for me. I spoke to him and he was so so nice and welcoming. Although the workers wanted me to stay for mass he didn’t push me he listened to me and he agreed to do my ashes and give me some to take to my fiancé to share with him. I felt so blessed and honored to meet my first catholic father and be blessed and in his presence. There was an overwhelmingly good and warm feeling here. I’d love to come back for my first mass. I’m told that I’m showing too much skin and women said I have to respect the church!! I’m born catholic and I always respect the catholic, I go to every church that I want to.. but I never been told that I have to change my dress or cover my shoulder because I’m showing to much skin. In the Bible God did not said to wear specific clothing to pray or to talk to God. Read moreToday I went to their service and I ended up leaving after the sermon. For one thing there was clearly a language barrier. I am assuming this priest was from Mexico. Secondly, he clearly does not know how to write a sermon or homily. The message is supposed to have a beginning, middle, and end. This was not the case, He kept rambling on, I lost count how many times he used brothers and sisters, and beautiful.
