I've been a resident at Union @ Roosevelt for nearly a year now and despite its benefits of being close to the Roosevelt Row downtown, I cannot wait to live anywhere else. Prior to moving into this apartment, one of my major concerns was safety and I relayed that to our leasing manager Marcia. She assured me that this community was entirely safe and there was no history of car break-ins or other incidents. Fast forward a few months later, my car began getting broken into on a monthly basis. Marcia initially assured me that they had security cameras as a precaution in our parking garage should anything bad ever happen yet when I reached out to see if she was able to get anything from the footage to submit for our police report, she was certain there was nothing seen on the footage. So somehow, someone stole several hundreds of dollars worth of valuables from my car with no trace? Not to mention that we pay $70 a month to park in this garage and occasionally it's too full from the businesses downstairs and we're forced to park on the street. In addition to the car break-ins, I also had someone tamper with my gas tank in attempt to siphon gas, which apparently happened to another resident who parks in that garage as well. This resident notified the leasing office but of course, yet again, nothing was done. We get constant emails from Marcia reminding us to make sure we are locking the lobby doors behind us yet half of the time, the front door latches do not work properly due to tampering. Packages are constantly stolen out of the mail room/lobby due to people propping the doors open or not shutting them behind them. It's incredibly difficult to feel safe in such an urban area when all of the "security" features of your apartment do not function half of the time and the management does not care enough to enforce community policies. At this point, I do not even bother reaching out to Marcia with any issues because nothing has been done about it in the past.
If you do decide to live here, make sure to keep non-emergency Phoenix PD's phone number in your phone. You'll need them more...
Read morePros: The apartment itself is really nice with large balconies. The location is great if you want to be in the heart of the Roosevelt District without being in the middle of First Fridays. Our maintenance team is always helpful and prompt.
Cons: Rent prices are going down in Phoenix, but yet U@R is still increasing. We have no amenities, never ending construction, and they just doubled our utility bills and added monthly fees. We used to have monthly community gatherings, but now are sporadic at best. The one "amenity" is a courtyard that we haven't been able to use for over a year because of construction. If you live facing north or east, you hear all the street noise. If you face south, you have ZERO view (thanks to the new buildings).
When I moved here in 2021, it was such a great community. Our property manager regularly communicated with us, we had monthly social events, and she made this place feel like a true home. She even used to deliver nice little holiday gifts each year - nothing fancy, but very thoughtful. Now, everything is about "what corporate feels is best" - which means more expenses to the renters, more inconvenience, and zero recourse. Shrinkflation is real at U@R - we're paying more and...
Read moreI stumbled upon Union @ Roosevelt when I was looking to move out of North Scottsdale and move close enough to downtown Phoenix without being in the noisy part of downtown. Marcia - the property manager - responded to my emails and we scheduled a tour right away. Now it has been 3 months I moved here, I can officially say I absolutely LOVE IT here! It is as quiet as I like it to be when relaxing, but stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle, dining and nightlife if I literally walk out of the building. I absolutely love my neighbors and Marcia is EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE and HELPFUL about everything via emails. We have great and modern finishes in our apartments AND a package receiving locker service so you don't have to worry about anything going missing. I have not had to deal with maintenance staff just yet - so I will update this review when I do. But I highly recommend both Union @ Roosevelt and Marcia Glidewell - our fabulous...
