It's Okay TM. I chose this place as a more affordable alternative to the hotels by the convention center. Do I regret it? No. Would I do it again? Probably not. I'm used to slumming it in Motel 6s to save money on trips so I'm willing to put up with a lot, but I have three major complaints. First, I agree with other reviews that the hotel itself is quiet, but the location is not. This isn't really the hotel's fault and I guess dumb me for picking a downtown hotel to try to do some quiet writing around business. But if you're bothered by city noises, this is not the hotel for you. There's a ton of traffic moving around all sides of the hotel, which means a lot of engine revving, car horn/alarm, radio/subwoofers, and siren sounds at all hours. Muscle cars and bikers seem to really love this area. I never experienced this at the Sheraton because they have floors high enough to get away from it, but with three floors max here, you might as well be standing on the street corner. Second, the wifi is unsecured and abysmal. They give you a password but it never asks you to log in, just redirects you to an unsecured warning and then to the company website. I had good enough connection to stream music on YouTube but my download speed was like 0.05mbps until around 1 am. If you have virtual work obligations, avoid or bring hotspot. Third, the third floor has a strange smell. At first I thought it was a sort of exhaust smell from an old HVAC or something mechanical, but the longer I sit here smelling it the more I think it may be that plus a lingering smoke smell covered up poorly with disinfectant. I'm in a non-smoking room but it penetrates from the hall even with the window open and fan on. It's not like, Vegas hotel smell, it's more subtle like being in a musty garage. As for the rest of the room, this place is about as close as you can get to a Motel 6 while still calling yourself a hotel. Other reviews mention it's dated--yes, very. It's sufficiently clean on the surface and the bed is very comfortable, but the closer you look the more you start noticing the rusted fixtures, cracked grout, stains, and general roughness around the edges. The staff I've interacted with have been friendly, but I'm not sure if I'm comforted or concerned by the lobby doors being locked all the time. The parking lot could use some better security features for how much we're paying. The basketball court seems like a fun idea, but if your room is near it you will be woken up by the thump thump thump at 9am. Overall it's adequate enough but for what you get for the price, I'll probably just pick a quieter place farther out with free parking and save that $18 parking fee to ride...

From the moment we reached out to SureStay Hotel by Best Western in Phoenix, we were greeted with exceptional customer service that set the tone. However, one individual truly stood out during this experience—Liz.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge her outstanding dedication and professionalism. From our very first phone call, Liz was nothing short of amazing. We had many questions, and she patiently addressed each one with remarkable attention to detail. It felt less like a typical customer service interaction and more like we had a personal travel agent at our side, genuinely looking out for our needs.
Her warm and friendly demeanor immediately put us at ease. Not only was she knowledgeable, but she also managed to convey complex information in a way that was easy for us to understand. For instance, when we mentioned we were headed to the Phoenix Convention Center with a baby in tow, Liz sprung into action. She provided us with clear directions and valuable insights, including the transportation options available. Her recommendation of the nearby bus stop and the hotel shuttle service to the airport was incredibly helpful and alleviated any worries we had about getting around.
Liz went above and beyond by highlighting the various amenities the hotel offers, including the delightful continental breakfast that we looked forward to every morning. It was evident that she was listening intently to our needs, ensuring we felt supported throughout our planning process.
Even after our initial conversation, we called back with more questions, and I worried about being a nuisance and a bother. Yet, Liz responded with genuine kindness and patience each time, making us feel valued as guests. It’s rare to encounter such outstanding customer service, and Liz’s efforts truly made a difference in our experience.
I can’t help but emphasize how special Liz is—she deserves recognition for her hard work and dedication. It’s clear that she takes pride in her role and strives to provide the best experience possible for her guests. I strongly believe that Liz deserves accolades for her exemplary service.

Read moreI was harassed by a Best Western front desk clerk named Pamela.
I recently made a reservation for two rooms at the Best Western Hotel located in downtown Phoenix. I arrived at around 4:00 p.m. and proceeded to check in with Pamela. Unfortunately, she informed me that the rooms were not yet ready and that the cleaning staff was still working on them. I was disappointed as I needed to prepare for an event that I was attending that evening. Pamela gave me the option of waiting for the originally booked rooms or choosing new ones. However, the new rooms would not be together. After considering my options, I decided to take the new rooms with the option of a late check-out. This way, I could get some rest before heading back home the next day. I forgot to ask what time the late check-out would be, though.
The next day, I woke up at around 11:45 a.m. and started getting ready to leave when the cleaning staff knocked at the door. I answered and told them the room would be ready for them in 25 minutes. The cleaning staff left and 20 minutes later (12:05 pm), I received a phone call in my room. The person who called me was very aggressive and said, “You need to get out of the room now!” I was surprised by her rude tone and caught off guard. I politely responded that we needed about 5 minutes to finish packing. But she insisted that we leave immediately. According to her, check-out was at noon, and it was already 12:05. I offered to pay for the extra time, but she would not reason with me. Instead, she threatened to call the police if I did not leave immediately. When I told her that I was waiting for my wife to finish packing, she suggested that I leave her there and go down to the front desk alone. I was in shock at what was happening and quickly helped my wife.
At around 12:10, we left the room and headed downstairs. While walking towards the front desk, I noticed Pamela in a small office, pacing back and forth in a distressed manner. As she walked out of the office, I approached her to inquire if she was the one who had called me to the room. She confirmed it, but her tone was very aggressive. I asked her what the problem was, to which she raised her voice and said: "You are late". She then proceeded to argue with me about being late, despite my repeated requests to charge me for it. Pamela's behavior was completely unacceptable and it is concerning that someone like her is representing a national...
