Reported to Dept. of Health as follows. It is my strong belief after repeated events that they are repackaging poultry after it's due date has expired. I believe this because I experienced very bloody packaging on many occation. I have mentioned to them that this is extremely gross and have never seen this elsewhere. Imagine people touching that and then other items in the store. Additionally once I've gotten the meat home, the meat comes out of packaging slimy and smells a bit off even after cooking fully. Alot of this has occurred to me after the fact and researching. The last event which was yesterday has me feeling nauseous today. These items (particularly bone in thighs) are not prepackaged and it is my strong belief that they are simply repackaging. There is so much blood in the display that it is obscuring labels and such. I don't recommend this place to anybody. I read the great reviews about how friendly this place is and this was not my experience. The butcher in the back didn't even want to help with pricing meat for me and acted like I was bothering him. So I continued getting the rest of the items I was looking for. Brought a $9 bottle of olive oil to the register and they tried charging me $30 for it!!! Luckily I was paying attention and did not blindly fork over my cash. When I pointed out the price was wrong, they argued with me and proceeded to ignore me while getting on their cell phone to call someone. At that point I had enough and left the store very unhappy at being treated in that way and having my time wasted. I went to the Red House Farmer's Market instead that was in the area and was treated with respect and dignity as a consumer should be....

I came down from Georgia to visit my son in FL. My town in GA, it's nearly impossible to find a Bodega. I was so happy to have found this gem. The store is well maintained & clean. Shelves are full with a large variety of items. The produce is fresh & if you're Hispanic then you know that a sweet plantain isn't sweet enough if it's skin isn't almost all black...delicioso. I was so happy to find fresh recao (culantro leaves) so I could make my sofrito. I didn't get to try a full cooked meal but it did look and smelled delicious. I did try a Cuban sandwich with a cafe con leche, it did not disappoint. I'm planning on stopping by before my 5hr drive home... something for the road, you know. Me encantó su tienda y...
