It's Harbor Freight Tools. You're not expecting highest quality of workmanship, but many items don't require the highest quality of workmanship. If they break, they break and you're not out an arm and a leg. They get you by until you choose to afford the better quality with the extra bells and whistles you don't use all the time.
There are some gems that are great deals if you need them like levels, chisels, bits, and other "disposable" parts that you need for home repairs and some light commercial work. Some of the tools even come with a lifetime warranty. They don't even have a form to fill out. Simply bring back the item to the store and they will replace it. Simple, right?
The only gripe is that this location does not honor Lifetime Warranty products purchased from when they sold an older version of the same product in-store with a defunct name. The mgr said "90-days only". For instance, I purchased a 48" box level and it was Cen Tech brand. This brand is no longer in use by Harbor Freight. They sell the same product with different colors and same workmanship under the name Pittsburgh. It even has the same item number. I took the box level in and they wouldn't exchange it. I called into the HF customer service team and asked if the lifetime warranty still covered the Cen Tech box level. Sure enough, they do. I didn't want to cause an issue, so I will just go down to the Rock Hill HF store and...
Read moreI purchased an item online but decided the item was overkill for what I needed. Went to this store to return the item. Box was unopened, never used, brand new. Manager refused the return saying because there's nothing wrong with it, they won't take it, so unless it's broken they wouldn't take the item - which is the opposite of what the return policy says. I said that didn't make sense so then he changed his mind and said the could take the item back, but there'd be a 20% restocking fee. I didn't realize that was a thing and believed him, so I just kept the item instead of dealing with them more thinking he was telling the truth. Well, I got home 30 minutes later and out of curiosity, looked up HF's restocking fee policy, and turns out he lied to me. HF's own policy says that if the item is new, unused and unopened the restocking fee would be waived. I definitely don't trust this store anymore and will not be going to this HF again in the future. I've never had an issue with returns at any of the other HF stores (I run errands around town all over the place) this is the only one I no longer go to because they lied for no reason. I've had good experiences with customer service (people helping) and returns at the other ones, especially the Indepence and Gastonia ones. The people and managers have been super nice and helpful...
Read moreThe staff here are always available, helpful, and friendly. I have been helped by a guy names Michael a few times lately. You can tell by his demeanor that he enjoys his job and is really interested in helping people get what they need and solving any problem that arises. I've never worked for HF but I would go out a limb and say that he is doing everything by the book and not cutting any corners. There is also a manager there, a tall male, I didn't catch his name, but he was the MOD March 8, 2024 around 11am. I came in with a return on a defective hose that was in a paint sprayer. He made the exchange very easy, no questions asked, and price matched the paint sprayer when he saw it was on sale this week without me asking. Are HF tools as reliable as the big brands, not always. The prices are more than fair for tools that you may only use once in a blue moon, but the people and the service that work there are one major reason I keep coming back. Well done...
