Pineville Tavern — Restaurant in Pineville

I must admit that I was more than a little skeptical when a friend suggested I give this place a shot, as I can definitely see how the outside appearance of the place could come off as a little rough and uninviting to some, but let me tell you that this place is the exact definition of don't judge a book by its' cover, as I was welcomed from the time I stepped in and felt like part of the family from start to finish. The service was very welcoming and friendly, the wings and burgers were well cooked with a lot of flavor, the people were cool and personable even though I looked different than anyone else in the place for the most part.

After my initial skepticism wore off, I felt completely comfortable having a few beers and dinner at the bar, so much so that I came back a few nights later for karaoke.

I must admit that this isn't Southend or NoDa karaoke, so if that is what you are looking for, you won't find it here, but if you want a low key, fun and memorable experience where first timers are welcomed without judgment and without the parking hassles and fraternity row vibe of some other places with karaoke nights around town, then definitely check out Friday night karaoke as you will...

I visited on a busy Saturday night - the place was shoulder to shoulder and a band had set up but hadn't started yet. Looked like a good place. I worked my way to the bar to get a drink and waited patiently to be served. After about 15 minutes with no staff even looking at me I noticed that people were getting drinks at the other end of the bar. So I moved there and waited behind a couple of others. After a few minutes the ones in front of me were served and I was next in line. A few minutes later there were people waiting behind me, and one by one the bartender served each of them and completely ignored me. This went on at least 4 times - twice the customer apologized to me saying, "Sorry for jumping the line, but the bartender knows me." I'm not naïve, and I know that one of the perks of being a regular customer is getting preferential service. But this was ridiculous - after the fourth or fifth time I left in frustration, having never gotten a drink, or even making eye contact with a staff member. One star for this terrible service, but I'll give it a second star for the potential that I saw...

Awesome hidden gem of a dive bar! Definitely a dive bar. Several pool tables, they look like they're in good shape and well kept. The late night food menu is great. Specials vary. Best bang for your buck when it comes to bar food. Huge portions, we thought we were getting some small sides so we got several; one basket of fries would've been enough for a table of four. The wings are awesome, the onion rings were massive like big enough to be a bracelet and super crispy. The basket of fried pickles was also a huge portion we couldn't finish them. Also side note: really good restaurant ranch! Drink prices are very good/fair. The few shots we got they didn't skimp and prices were fair.
