I visited this particular store in Carolina Place Mall with My service dog. Before I walked over the threshold good, the security officer stopped me and told Me that there are no dogs allowed in the store, to which I told him and showed him paperwork that stated my dog is a legitimate SD. He let me in. Not 2 minutes later 2 personnel, a male and a female, who claimed they were mangers came up to me attempting to get me to leave the store...even tho I explained to them that I spoke to the security officer already and had shown PROOF that I was a service dog handler. Still, the male manager was attempting to make me leave the store. I expanded to him that BY LAW, I had every right to be in the store, telling him that by attempting to make me leave that He was breaking state and federal law and that I could take legal action against this store. I told him I was well aware of my rights as a person with a disability and asked him why was I being asked to leave the store. By this time as I was dialoging with this "manager" who STILL kept trying to get me to leave the store after I told him all of this, 2 security gaurds, the one who had let me in and another one,had come over. So in all there were 4 people, the 2 managers and the 2 security surrounding me, as if I was someone who had stolen something! It was not untill I pulled out my dog's paperwork and read out loud for all four of these store personnel who had surrounded me like I was some criminal, like they were ready to apply force to make me leave that store if they had to, the statements written on my dog's paperwork by the ADA themselves that the female Manger, after standing there watching the whole scene play out, yet saying nothing said to me "go ahead ma'am, don't worry about it." This was Southern Lion's "southern" hospitality toward me, an individual who has a hidden disability. They were willing to break ADA regulations, state law and federal law just to have me, a woman with a service dog leave the store. They also claimed that it was the franchise Southern Lion who had these strict polices about dog's in their so. So...are you telling me that SL willingly choses to not follow the law and discriminates against people with disabilities!? SL, SL personnel, and anybody else who wants to try this nonsense....just so you know, and you can Google this, there are different types of Service Dogs and a variety of tasks that they do. There are different types of disabilities and reasons why a person would need a dog to assist them. Not all disabilities...

What's in a Name? Naming my company was a task that came with ease and joy. I decided to name it after my niece, Malaysia. The joy and peace I felt in that moment are forever engraved in my heart. Malaysia has been a beacon of light in my life and my family’s, reminiscent of my beloved mother, Sandra, who now watches over us from heaven.
My mother's favorite color was red, and it was essential for me to incorporate this into my business. The color black, symbolizing the strength and resilience of the Black Lives Matter movement, also holds a significant place in my brand, as Malaysian Lights was born during one of the most profound moments in recent history.
Our Locations We are proud to serve our community from two beautiful locations:

This past weekend marked the grand opening of our second location at Southern Lion in Carolina Place Mall. The warmth and familial treatment I received from everyone there made it an unforgettable experience. - Relaxing Soul

Read moreHad the ultimate blast here and picked up some INCREDIBLE pieces of artwork. Additionally, the owner Sonja and the vendor manager Maureen were there and I was helped by Kingsley and the two guys (sorry for the brain fart) who helped me load my car. The place is very comfortable and made up of 200 plus local vendors who are managed in one place like a Farmers Market but inside and for other stuff.
The vendors creations are absolutely beautiful and you'll find stuff and inspiration for all kinds of celebrations in all kinds of colors, themes, and tastes. The directions to get to the store are super easy to follow and shopping in there can feel chaotic, but its because they have alot of beautiful things to offer.
Just start at aisle 1 and take pictures of the things that you like (and the booth number) and or may want to hold abd you'll be superbly fine. Had a blast, will absolutely continue shopping there to support local ve dogs because where else in Charlotte can you find a place with 200+ locally olaourced vendors managed in one placed 7 days a week. Honey, jewelry, clothing, local chips and sauces, arts, spa stuff, plants, decor. Everything. Arts by Jaz by Jazmine McFadden has alot of amazing art plus a really great sale on pillows, and clothing!
Its a crafters or transplant dream. Oh yeah, I got flowers for whatever reason reason....I love this place!!!! And the Lions chocolate Bars tooo and the Carolinas Chips. I enjoyed my shopping experience, would recommend to a friend abd can't wait to go back!!!
