I sadly had a bad experience with Jorge at black horizon tattoo. My husband and I got initials for our anniversary while in Pittsburgh. When arriving we filled out our online forms and I looked over portfolios and chose River as my artist, they had some pieces posted that aligned with the finer style I liked. I expressed I like a fine line like my existing tattoos and don’t mind getting touch ups, Jorge told me that tattoos shouldn’t need a touch up and pointed to an existing tattoo I have and said “you don’t want it to look like that”… yeah I actually do. He ended up telling me I won’t be tattooed by River but by him as he has more experience with fine line, I was worried but I just trusted his professional opinion and didn’t argue that. 2 days later I took my second skin off and immediately noticed it was a bit blown out, and worried that as it healed that would worsen (it has). River did take my husband, and his looks great! Thank you to River. He wouldn’t have cared as much as I though if it came out differently, so I do wish our original artists we chose on the legal consent form was honored. I would’ve preferred to have been declined or referred to someone else if this wasn’t something he thought he could deliver, I know not every artist does fine line and I understand that. My buddy Jacob works at Black Horizon Tattoo I’m friends with his brother who told me where he was working and once I knew he was back in the area I HAD to have him work on me he’s an amazing artist and phenomenal tattooer and person! Not only was I super late from life and mom stuff + family emergency things arising I also had a 90 minute trip to see him and he STILL made sure to rearrange his day, schedule, as well as other clients to get me in which barely anyone does so that in itself shows the level of service this shop has. The shop itself is pristine and legit badass it’s gorgeous and massive I want to put a mattress in there and just live & hang lol, but seriously, it’s beautiful and so clean, organized as well as they are super professional welcoming and friendly there. I spoke to three or so other artists there and they were all so nice, cheery and positive which to me is a major plus and makes you feel more comfortable. Highly highly recommend this place, my boyfriend was a walkin tonight, he got his fingers tattooed, he wanted them blacked out but the artist who happen to be the owner, Ronald suggested doing like jagged lines instead so my boyfriend agreed. 8 out of 10 fingers tattooed and it only took like less than an hour. The end results is awesome we're so happy he suggested the lines versus the blocks. I wanted a small hand tattoo but I checked with them first since I'm pregnant and they said they wouldn't do it which I completely understand, that's why I mentioned it in the first place but I'm 100% coming back after I'm okay to get tattooed. The shop was so clean and the tattooer was so knowledgeable and I found out he used to live in Florida where I'm from, almost the same city.
