These prices are some of the worst I have EVER seen at any vintage store. There is zero justification to sell bland sweatshirts for $95 to $150 that either don't have tags or are just a somewhat old Jerzees. Those can readily be found without stains on eBay for less than $15 so please, tell me why they need to be priced so high at this place? I saw a shirt with no interesting qualities and no Pittsburgh connection that looked like it came out of a dumpster for $75. Just why? Same with the Levi's jeans too. Explain to me like I'm 5 years old why battered jeans that have no special qualities and are likely not even that old are worth over $100. Older Levi's in better shape can be found for less elsewhere and even on eBay, including shipping! And even if everything is washed and dry cleaned when you get them, isn't that the expectation? This store caters to rich people who want to cosplay as the working class that once was plentiful in this city by spending top dollar on clothes that are not worth it at all - gentrification much? Spend $150+ on a rare band shirt or some truly unique jeans elsewhere instead if you want to blow a hole in your wallet per item. The ONLY redeeming quality is that the store looked beautiful and the guy working there...
Read moreMello & Sons is what I always thought a vintage shop should be. Neal is very knowledgeable and passionate about his stock, which includes new and vintage military, workwear, and western pieces. The store is beautifully and invitingly laid out. The clothes are clean and fairly priced. My friend and I both bought items that we are eager to add to our wardrobes. In addition to the great clothes, talking with Neal and other customers really made the store feel like a community hub. I live four hours from Pittsburgh, but I know when I venture back to Steel City, I'll be stopping in at...
Read moreThis store is truly awesome. The quality of the denim is super high as is the carefully curated vintage aesthetic of the other goods (shirts, leather goods, etc). The owner is incredibly helpful and down to earth. I came in with a pretty specific request and he presented me with many amazing options. It was hard to choose because all the denim he brought out was on point an in my size! They also carry my favorite scents by Brooklyn base D.S. & Durga. Nothing more ethical and satisfying than shopping local and buying vintage and or/USA made; Mello and Sons makes both super...
