As a small business owner I always try to do business with local companies as much as possible. My first experience with Mad Macs was with the purchase of an Apple Mac Book Air a little over two years ago. My son accompanied me as he has experience with Apple products and also to give some guidance as this was a gift for my wife. The staff was very helpful and took the time to inquire about her primary needs and use. We selected a 13" notebook along with a protective cover and Apple Care product. She loves using the notebook and has used it everyday without one issue.
My second experience was with the purchase of a Desktop computer about a year ago. We have primarily used windows based desktops and this was our first time looking into an Apple Desktop. We have a special needs son who has relied on a computer throughout his life and since he is very familiar with his Apple IPad this seemed like it might be a logical choice. Again, the staff was very friendly and helpful inquiring about our primary use. After sometime going over the different options and models we selected a 27" 5k Desktop with the Retina display and 1TB Hard drive. We also added the Apple 2TB Time Capsule and 3 year Apple Care Warranty. As a bonus we received the Super Drive at no additional cost. We additionally took advantage of the zero percent finance option. This setup had turned out to be absolutely correct for our needs and again we have experienced flawless performance. The bonus thus far is not one single virus to be concerned about along with a very clean and simple setup without all the wires. With the time Capsule all of the Apple products back up automatically which is a very big convenience for us. The bonus in our family is that our Special needs Son easily transitioned to the new Desktop. If there was any learning curve, it was with myself personally as this is my first experience with an Apple Computer. I still use my windows laptop for my business needs, but use the Apple for personal use and do enjoy the experience with each continued use. I can well envision the transition to Apple in time for myself as well.
So overall, anyone who is in the market for a computer I can highly recommend Mad Macs for your needs and as our family needs further Apple based products we will look to them as well...
Read moreMy mid-2015 Mac-pro speakers were blown out, so I purchase NEW speakers from DV Warehouse where they sell cpu parts(Apple only fix 2017 and up Mac-pros). I went to Mad Macs to install the speakers for me, cuz I clicked on youtube so i can do it myself ,but u have to take out the motherboard and etc. He charge me $75 to install, which is a good price, and asked me for my password, so when he install the speakers, to know they are working. He said it be ready at 3:30, so myself and a friend of mine went shopping . I go back to the store to pick up the labtop, a different person handed me my labtop. I asked him was it fixed , and told me yes, so I paid ,and left the store. I get inside the car and turn on the cpu, the right side of the speaker was very low, not blown, just low. I go back to the store, and the guy who first help me was there. I told him the problem, cut on the cpu to take a listen, and he said he doesnt here the difference. So I had to go the settings to SOUND and slide the BALANCE left and right , now he hears the difference and he tells me he did his job. What??? He said that it was the speakers, then I said they are new speakers, I showed you the invoice and the yellow envelope that they came in , and u said they are the right ones. My friend got involved and ask him , why didnt you have the courtesy to call him about the speaker? He got upset , and said I'm not talking to you,and my friend pointed his finger at him and said but I'M TALKING TO YOU!!! Bottom line I think 3 things happen, 1.He knew the speaker on the right wasnt plugged in all the way and he didnt want to take everything apart again. 2. He could have gave me an old right speaker so he can keep the new one for his own purpose. 3. He never checked the sound before he gave it to me. I just think that it was a LAZY job. Just next time CALL the person if u have a problem with a product. PS. He did offer to put the old ones back in ,and I told him no. I...
Read moreEverything started off fine. Brought 2 Macbook Pros for repairs on a Friday. One needed a keyboard, one needed a battery. I was told that they would be ready Monday, which I said was great because they’re both work computers and I depend on them! Next thing you know Monday comes and goes, then Tuesday, and I get a call that one Mac is ready but the other has been damaged, requiring an entirely new Logic board. (The tech damaged the touch-ID, bricking the laptop) They acted like they were doing me a favor, saying “we’re going to replace the logic board at no extra charge.”….I should hope so, you broke it! Not only that, when the logic board is damaged, the hard drive is also useless, so they had to try and transfer all of my data to a new hard drive.
Long story short, it was an entire week to get my “one day repair job” complete by these “pros.” No discount offered, no apology when I came into the store. I lost a weeks worth of working time, which could be equal thousands of dollars, not to mention the time it took me having to re-login to all of my accounts and re-download software that couldn’t be transferred. Gave 2-stars because the one tech on the phone was at least apologetic at the time he called me to let me know. But that’s about as good as this review gets.
Save your time and just go to the Apple Store in Albany. They’ll get you in and out the SAME day for just about anything, and if they ever mess up or break your equipment I KNOW they won’t...
