Vallarta Mexican restaurant in Placerville, CA, serves up comfort classic Mexican food. Great customer service and consistent food flavors. Simple, understated restaurant giving off 1980s vibes. They can accommodate largish party of diners, but it is recommended to call ahead to verify. The staff is welcoming. The restaurant has a separate bar and dining area. The food is hearty and filling. Safe seasoning and flavors..For dine in, they provide complimentary chips, red salsa, and hot bean dip. They have signature dishes of molcajetes. Impressive sight to behold of a huge molcajete (mortar bowl) filled with chicken, steak, shrimp, and veggies served in hot melted queso or hot creamy Chipotle sauce. Huge serving size. Being lactose intolerant, I have never tried it. But the sight of it always makes me pause and gawk and wonder what it tastes like. My go to's are the shredded beef and chicken crispy tacos. Simple traditional flavors. They have lunch specials offered during the week that run about $12.50. Non lunch specials- one entree combination plates run around $12.50, two entree $16.50, and three $19.50.

Delicious. I had fish with garlic sauce - it was lovely and very garlicky. The refritos in a cup were cute - and very tasty, cup and all. We ate out on the front patio, comfortable seats in a nicely shady spot, quiet despite cars going by only a few feet behind. We'll be coming here again, on our trips through the area.

Great place close to Placerville! We were there for a funeral, and after we were looking for a place that would be open by 7:30pm it was Vallarta! Very good service and the food auténtica comida mexicana!

Worst service ever! I went with my family. One of my family members was treating us all. This is the same restaurant that previously lost my family member's credit card yet he still wanted to go here again. That would have been enough to make me never want to go back. However, since he was paying, I didn't object. Our waiter, Oscar, was clumsy and bumbling. On top of this, he lost two of the three orders of our table. We were trying to make a movie on time and worried that the slow and terrible service would make us late for our movie. After sitting for a long time eventually, one of the two missing dinners came out, but only after the one out of three dinners that was correct and on time had been almost entirely eaten. My dinner NEVER came!! One of my family members shared his dinner with me. Then the restaurant had the audacity to charge us with the food that we never got! We complained and had the bill corrected. Our entire meal should have been comped. No owner, no manger in sight to come and apologize for the rotten service and the incorrect billing. Barely made our movie on time and if a family member hadn't shared his dinner with me, I would have had NOTHING to eat since my DINNER NEVER SHOWED UP!! Horrible restaurant experience. If I could, I'd give this restaurant a NEGATIVE 5 star review. It doesn't even...

From reading some other reviews I'm not sure if we came at a bad time or that they are regulars so get special treatment because me and my bf had the worst experience. We got there before 7pm and didnt leave til probably 9pm. Two hours? Whatever most people can spend that long at a resturant. Except it wasnt intentional. It took about 20 min to get chips, drinks were coming extremly slow I'm not a fast drinker by any means and I finished mine each time with time to spare before anyone came over again. Mind you there was maybe 3 other tables of people there, so it wasnt busy. Then they took our order and I swear we waited about an hour at least to get our food. Then my order was not supposed to have onions (I specifically said no onions, because they even asked). Food was nothing to rave about by any means. It wasnt bad but it really wasnt great either and we love mexican food but it really wasnt Mexican food and the menu wasnt anything special either. Then as the food isnt insanely expensive the drinks were definitely on the higher end of places I've been and honestly probably the highest given the sizes and quality of the drinks. Most likely will...
