Someone posted that The Oaks (formerly High Pointe) saved the apartments from The Martin family and nothing could be more inaccurate! My boyfriend and I stayed there for 2 years and had no issues with the Martins. The place was clean, cheap rent, and maintenance issues fixed in a timely manner. When Cushman Wakefield took over, rent increased while the place became rundown and dirty. Trash was constantly overflowing from the dumpsters (to the point we had people dumpster diving at night). The pool was filled in with dirt right before summer without any notice to the residents, turning it into a pickleball court right before winter. Hallways dirty and lights burnt out. Power was out for 2 full days because they refused to move one of their trees blocking the line for Evergy to repair it. We put in our notice before our lease was up, and cleaned thoroughly upon move out, hoping to get most of our deposit back. After a month of waiting for the check, I called and they said they didn’t have a new mailing address for us. (They did, it was on the move out form.) We got a check for $17. When I called and asked why, they accused us of not paying our last month’s rent. I knew I did because I had to call to find out the prorated amount. They then said the amount I paid was not the full amount,(granted I wrote down and paid exactly what I was told), therefore $200 something plus a $75 late fee was taken out of our deposit. They refused to admit any fault or...
Read moreI live there for a year my lease ended the beginning of March. It was under two different management companies within that year time frame. Now that I moved out I was told during move out that I would have my security deposit back within 6-8 weeks. We are going on 10 weeks. I had called several times with no answer left voicemails to never have anyone call me back. Tried emailing them with no answer. At a little over 8 weeks I finally got someone to answer the phone to find out about my deposit. What did they say? They said the manager would have to sign the check and they would call me back. Why hasn’t that been taken care of in the first 8 weeks? Why did it take me calling and calling for anything to happen with my my deposit. It now has been almost 2 weeks later and still no call back no deposit and can’t get them to answer the phone. It’s not like they didn’t have my forwarding address cause it was on my move out paperwork. When I finally talked to them I said I’ll just come pick it up and they said when the manager signs it we’ll call you when it’s ready to be picked up. Now radio silent. This place is a joke everything is outdated smells like cigarette smoke no maintenance maintenance request go unanswered just keeps going downhill. So glad I moved out I now rent a 2 bed fully updated duplex with a attached garage right down the road for almost...
Read moreDO NOT RENT HERE! They show nice, renovated apartments online and then show you an unrenovated apartment and tell you the renovated one is $200 more. The renovated one is crap. Worse than a landlord special! The outsides are falling apart and the leasing agent told me they do not have enough maintenance people. I stupidly put down a deposit before viewing a "renovated" unit. I let them know 2 days later I would not be renting with them and wanted my deposit refunded. That was 3 weeks ago. I have been strung along with "management has to cut a check" and "they are working on it". Granted I paid online through their portal. The leasing agent is sweet but seems to have no idea what is going on with the management. I have had a terrible experience and I didn't even rent! Please save yourself and do not even...
