Final update: Everything is all fixed now. The guys were extremely friendly and professional. They replaced the screen and there is no difference now between my iPhone and my wife's. They were also very thorough at explaining to me what had happened. I would highly recommend this company to any of my friends or family. They went above and beyond in making sure everything was made right. Thank you Mint Repair! If we happen to crack another screen (knock on wood we don't) I will be coming back to these guys.
UPDATED: I was able to reach out to Mint and they are going to install a new screen next week. They were great in explaining how occasionally they get defective screens (We just happened to get one of them) and they try to catch all of them, but this is why they have the lifetime warranty to cover any of these issues. Email communication has been great with them. They have been very quick to reply. I am very impressed with the way they have handled everything. I will update to 5 stars once the new one is installed and there are no issues with the new screen.
Original: Overall repair on my wife's phone went well. He was quick and was able to get it done in about 30 minutes. However, the new display that he installed is not of the highest quality. The color balance is completely off. Anything that is supposed to be white on an iPhone (side by side test with my iPhone) is now a dingy, dull grey/white color. All of the colors have been darkened drastically as well. Along with that, the new screen hardware drains my wife's battery extremely fast. By 11am, her phone is already at 30% even though nothing else has changed other than getting the new display replaced. Ended up paying $120 for the whole repair after taxes. For another $15, I could have had apple replace it with a much higher quality hardware. If you are in a tight pinch, you will get a new screen, but the quality of the products used are really poor. I will be posting a photo later today to show the major difference in display...
Read moreSeeing that Mint repair has had good ratings by most, I took my iPhone 8 in there to get the screen and back glass replaced. Because I was trying to be accepted for a high trade-in value with my carrier, I told them that I needed it done soon, to which they told me there would be no problem. They told me to come back the next day and the phone would be ready. The next day when I showed up (later than I told them I would return) they told me that they did not have the correct parts and while the screen had been replaced, they had no definite timetable for when the back glass would arrive. The employee said he tried to call me to inform me of the issue but that it wasn't working but my number was not going through. I understood and gave him my phone number again in case it was put in wrong the first time. The employee told me that he would get in touch with his manager to track the shipment and would let me know after he was done speaking with him. Because I was on a time-crunch, I had to leave but told him to call me as soon as he knew. More than 8 business hours and a day had passed before I decided to call them to see the status of the shipment. The employee who answered told me the same thing that he would have to talk with the manager. This is the situation currently.
Update: Two hours after posting this comment, the manager called to me apologize for the situation. He also called to inform me that he had overnight shipped the parts to the store and that my phone had been fixed. When I went in to pick up my phone, the employees were nice even though they knew about the post and the situation. The manager took the lengths he did to make sure my phone was taken care of and called me that quick, I have not had that quick of customer service anywhere else. With that being said, I still had a frustrating experience before the call but would consider using Mint...
Read moreI called these guys and they said the repair would be $99 for a new battery. Then I showed up to their PG location and they said, we don’t have the part, so you can go to Orem, or come back tomorrow. So I went to Orem and they said, that’s $120 for that. Well I told them I drove from AF because they quoted me $99, so they honored that.
As they were replacing the battery, they broke the screen. They then said it was already cracked, and I assured them it wasn’t, just that my screen protector was broken, so they said they would replace the screen. Now my phone is saying, you don’t have a genuine screen in, and that could cause problems.
So I called them and they said, a genuine screen would cost way too much. I said that the phone doesn’t allow me to get rid of the warning and they said, yeah, because it doesn’t have an Apple serial number, so you can’t get rid of the prompt. But they broke my screen. Anyways, they are nice, and they did replace the battery and screen they broke. They didn’t replace my screen protector, they said it would be an additional $20 for that. But that is fine because I just bought a new case that comes with 2 tempered glass screen protectors for $12.
Are they nice? Yes. Are they cheap? Yes. Would I go back, probably not. Take this for...
