I first have to say I was so excited to try Crust Club. I had seen many posts about it online. We actually live quite a distance from the location in Pleasant Grove, but we had a reason to be down there on Saturday so I was excited to place an order for pick up at 3:30. We wanted some of the items hot and some of them cold for take home. It was a fairly large order and the price was high in my opinion. Our hot items were a Personal Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta, side of Mac & Cheese and a Sweet Pork Burrito. My daughter ordered the sweet pork burrito, it was just okay, at almost 10.00 it was a smaller size portion and it would not have been filling for most men I know. My daughter felt it was heavy on black beans and not much pork. The Mac and Cheese was decent, my husband thought the noodles were over cooked, and that is saying something because he is not fussy about his noodles being al dente. My granddaughter ordered the sun-dried tomato pasta, the Italian spices they used were a little bit strong, even I felt that way. We ordered four savory hand held pies to go cold, three chicken pot pie, and one pizza hand pie. We baked 2 of the chicken pot pie hand pies the next day as per the enclosed directions. The crust was nice, it had a good color to it, but the overall filling was largely diced red potatoes and a few carrot chunks, the chicken was fine pieces, and not very many, the gravy had a decent flavor, it reminded me of the spices in stuffing. I said to my husband now I know why gravy is on the menu, the pot pie was dry, especially because it was so heavy on potato. To this point, we weren’t terribly disappointed, but we were not wowed in anyway either. Then came the 4 pack of sweet hand pies. We ordered a Boston Cream Pie, a Raspberry Cheesecake, a Lemon and a Chocolate Cookies and Cream. All had cream fillings, with frosting/glaze on top. The crust … truly I don’t understand the crust. I read review after review before writing this to see if I was the only one questioning the crust on these. The reviews I read didn’t mention anything about the crust on the sweet hand pies to my frustration. The crust on these sweet hand pies was doughy, white, not baked to any degree of color or flakiness. It could be because having a cream filling it cannot be baked long enough to achieve a golden flakey crust. That comment shows my lack of understanding of pie baking, and I apologize. The filling of the lemon, Boston cream pie, and chocolate cookies and cream were good. The raspberry cheesecake was not to any of our liking, way too sweet and the raspberry jam was not even, mostly at one end. I truly try to be super fair with my reviews as I rely on the reviews of others when deciding where to eat or what new places to try. I wanted to love this place, a new one is being built in South Jordan which is much closer to where we live. At this time I don’t even know if I would give it a try. With a 15 percent tip this was $76.36. Sorry I took the pic midway through eating out items, I usually get a photo before. The photo show how white the crust was on the sweet hand pies, it tasted doughy, the sweet pork burrito was shy on pork.

I'm really pleased with this little place!! First of all, you have to know that the dinner pies are a first come first serve, so if you wait until end of day to pick something up if you didn't reserve ahead of time, you might be out of luck. This place is known for their dinner pies and their "Baby Pies" which are the desserts. The desserts are little half pies already cooked. The dinner pies are unbaked and need to be taken home to cook or refrigerated or frozen. The dinner and dessert pie flavors vary week by week. So if you follow their Instagram account, you can get a good idea what pies are available for that day. They usually have a deal for the day they will announce as well. Also, you can reserve pies simply by making a comment on their Instagram or Facebook post. It's pretty awesome and so easy!! I've ordered from them 3 times already and shared with others and I've been thoroughly pleased with their service and the quality of food. I've only ordered The Original every time because it's so good. The pies are REALLY GOOD!! They have that perfect homemade taste and if you like thick flaky crust, this is the pie for you. Picking up is really easy. You just walk in and walk up to the counter and order, they give you the pies, and you walk out. We are talking like 2-minute pick ups. It's so great. I'm looking forward to the growth of this company and hope it keeps its original charm that it has right now. They are doing great with the volume of customers and I am happy to support this little company.

I really want to love Crust Club but I've been disappointed a few times. The fillings of the original and BBQ mac are really good. But the crust is SO thick on the outside that it never cooks through (unless it was black, maybe) and is doughy-- even if you put foil over it and continue to cook. I know the owner has said she loves the thick crust, and it does look pretty, but if it doesn't actually cook, it's not good. Raw dough in a finished product is never a good thing. The breadsticks are good. The pizza is SUCH a letdown. It's like they're trying to use pie crust as pizza crust. The actual product once cooked looks nothing like the photos on the website (with puffy crust; instead it's thin, lifeless, tasteless, and curls in... I don't think there's any yeast in the crust). The toppings were fine, I like the sauce, but the crust ruins it. I've tried it two times, following the directions perfectly, but it's a flat, not fluffy, tasteless, thin, either too thick and doughy (under the toppings) or too thin and too crunchy (along the outside) crust. I still have some pan dinners (the king and fajitas) in my freezer that I'm crossing my fingers are winners.

We have tried over 20 items from crust club ranging from baby pies, breakfast pies, dinner pies and pan dinners. Some are really good and worth buying multiple times, others not so good. There are a few things that are bothersome:

First is how the club has changed subscription plans over the past few years. First it was a monthly fee and you got a pie a month, then it was free club with free delivery if you were local or spent $40 or something like that. Now back to some monthly fee again. Sorry, some times I don't want a pie a month and don't want to be charged monthly for that. Sometimes I don't want to be running the oven all summer so there could be 3 to 4 months where I don't order anything.

Second is how they censor their review system. I have left honest reviews with some constructive criticism on some dishes, which I would hope will allow others to decide if it is the right item for them. Something I wish I had on some of the items we tried and didn't care for, but they don't get posted on their website. Only super positive 5 star (a couple 4 star but never any 3 star or lower reviews) get posted and that doesn't help if everyone just says how great it is but in actuality it isn't so hot. All reviews should be posted for the consumer to make a more informed decision. That is why I have to leave this one on google.

Third issue is there are not multiple versions offered of the same pie. I would like to try a few different pies, but the family dislikes onions so we can't get them, maybe some onion free versions of popular pies? Maybe a broccoli free version of the newman or corn subbed instead?

Sad to say that with the above issues, I will not be reordering from Crust Club until they go back to a free delivery on orders of $XX without the monthly club pricing and allow honest reviews to be posted and not only the butt...

Perfectly named CRUST club because the CRUST of any of their menu items is the STAR!

The bbq Mac& cheese pie is one of our favorites!! And the Gobbler pie I cannot WAIT to dig into this week for Thanksgiving. I’m thinking this one will rank pretty high as well!

I ADORE the delivery service and am so pleased and grateful I live close enough to enjoy that for FREE! What?!! Not only are they cooking for me, they DELIVER it! Truly amazing!!

Some Dishes so far (for me) that don’t make the “favorite” list but are nonetheless convenient and tasty are: The enchiladas The zuppa Tuscano soup

I may be pretty picky, but the enchiladas became more of a just a cheesy chicken mess and the tortillas kind of dissolved in it. I ended up adding broccoli to the dish when it came out and that helped. The soup, I added more cream to it and a few other items to my liking.

These critiques don’t necessarily make these dishes “bad” but I will say the items that include their delicious CRUST have not disappointed.

Oh and I have really enjoyed their dessert hand pie crust and flavors. I have had their raspberry cheesecake, their seasonal coconut one and have REALLy been wanting to try their APPLE!! Keeps selling out. So must be great! I will say, however, I do feel they are a little over filled but I just end up squeezing out some of it and it’s perfect for MY preferred crust to filling ratio.

The mini pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are delicious too! Even though they come cooked, I end up popping them in the oven at 350 for 5 min to give them some rigidity after being frozen for a bit.

Overall, very pleased with their delicious menu and will continue to be a lifelong customer !

Thank you Crust club for creating such a...
