This is an excellent used bookstore with a great selection for families. Their inventory tilts toward Christian literature, children's literature, and homeschooling. They have a large collection of homeschooling resources across a wide variety of systems, along with a solid lineup of Usborne and DK books from the 90's and 2000's. The selection is well-curated and fills a valuable niche in the community. I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in reading old books.
For adult reading, there is a modest but well-selected inventory of science fiction and fantasy - the emphasis is on classic "doorstopper" age 80's-through-2000's literature, the kind I remember hiding in school libraries through middle school and junior high. I wish this section was larger, but what's there is what ought to be there. Again, the curation is excellent. There are also a few Games Workshop codices from older editions, and a reasonable selection of comics. I can't comment on the bulk of the store, which appears to be unsorted fiction, but I noticed strong representation from Evangelical authors.
The store is also a great place to relax. There are comfortable, well-styled seating areas for reading or work, and a very nice area for children to play. The atmosphere is good. The people are nice, and the owners clearly care about what they're offering.
In all, this place is a treasure and I can't believe I just found out about it. I look forward to supporting them and I hope they...
Read moreI saw this sign near The Happy Book Stack, and I was quite eager to learn more about this promotion. I wasn't sure if they were selling finishing nails, if they were going to give me a discount on nail polish, or if they were merely promising to clip off 10% of my fingernails.
But as I entered, I was met with an extremely friendly staff and a wide selection of books, music, movies, and boardgames. I was so overwhelmed by the collection that I entirely forgot to ask the nice red headed man at the counter (wearing the nerdy Lord of the Rings shirt) about the nails.
I was also quite pleased with how nice their bathroom was (it's the one near the nerd section). It was clean and even had a pleasant smell. There was an inspirational quote that hung above me that really helped me finish my business: "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." At first, I wasn't quite sure why this hung above their toilet. But the comfortability and cleanliness of the bathroom really allowed me to introspectively ponder this reality. And it truly helped me to expel all of the brisket that I had eaten the night before.
I'm still not quite sure what the whole "NAILS 10% OFF" sign was about. But hey! It got me in. And I would...
Read moreThey have a surprisingly large and varied selection of books but are pretty lacking in the other items they were advertising. Was disappointed to see that a large majority of items still had Savers/Goodwill/etc stickers on them, movie and game cases were often damaged, and there were very few board/video games on the shelves in general. That being said, their prices are fair and reflect current market values and again the books portion had a great mix of different titles and genres and I found quite a few interesting things on the shelves. I do hope that they will improve on the other media side of things and remove some of those stickers as it honestly just makes me want to look at my local charity shops to find these titles instead at their...
