Not a good experience, took my Aunt who used a walker. She found what she wanted, and a few extra items. Me not so much. Found a beautiful fountain but couldn't find a price, found a associate who couldn't find it either she went and got a manager and she found it. It was 249.00 out of my price range, she stated it was the last one and do I want it or not? I stated no it was more than I what I wanted to spend but thank you. She immediately turned and walked away. I found another fountain and purchased that one. I then found a cute little piece with 4 little blue birds perched on a leaf. I turned it over to see the price, the price tag had been ripped off, with just one piece of the tag on it, looked wore. It was the only one, asked the same associate about the price on this item, she stated that she hadn't seen that item in a long time. I told her perhaps it was a return, she thought so too. She went and got the same manager, she turned it over and got a look disgusting look on her face and said to me "you know its easier for us if you just find one with a price tag on it." I felt like I was slapped in the face. I Informed her I couldn't find another one. She proceeded by getting on the the phone with other stores and looking on the computer. 20 minutes later, was still looking couldn't still find. Probably a out of stock item not in the system anymore, and it was a return item thrown on the sales floor. I had, had enough, and my Aunt was tiring went to the check out. Spent close to hundred dollars. She came to me and said she found something like it but bigger for around 60.00, I told her I did't think so, she agreed, she took my phone number and said she would call me if she found out what the price was. Needless to say she never called back.Wouldn't was to spend another penny of my money at that store, they don't seem to want to make a sale anyway. I work in retail my store doesn't treat their customers that badly, wouldn't...
Read moreI’ve been shopping at this Bachmans for 20 years and it’s been a steady decline. Houseplant costs are exorbitant most of the time (you can find some occasional deals) and the quality is declining. Last year I was visiting and the kind man who was tasked with watering plants had no idea what was what and was under/overwatering. We struck up a conversation and I ended up teaching him which plants were which and how much water they needed. He was very grateful, thanking me repeatedly, and said he’s had no training!! Yikes. No wonder the plants are in such a state. I bought a gorgeous string of pearls two years ago, only to unfurl the strings to find them infested with bugs (scale) when I got home. I brought it back and their horticulturist basically said “yeah that happens.” I have close to 300 houseplants so I’m NOT okay with bringing an infestation in, especially from a “reputable” nursery! I overlooked the aphids that infested the pepper plants I brought home in 2021, because aphids are wimpy and the plant was outside.
Today was the last straw. I went in to buy some plants and was disappointed by the price and selection, but I bought a few anyway. I asked if they’d be open to donating a plant or two to fundraiser for the elementary school a few blocks away. They said no, only if it was a silent auction?? Considering oxalis plants are currently $3.50, I was surprised to hear they wouldn’t even consider donating a plant or two that they clearly are trying to move. I will no longer be patronizing this store. If I want high prices, I’ll go to Tonkadale where at least they have a good selection and take care of their plants. I’m so sad writing this as this Bachman’s has been my favorite for so long. I can’t justify giving them any more...
Read moreSo, I have been patronizing the Bachman's on Hwy 55 in Plymouth for years, as their floral arrangers have always been great to me. They regularly have items suitable for the occasions for which I I like to give plants and flowers.
On Sunday December 6th I bought a poinsettia plant as a gift for a dear friend, paid $34.95 plus tax and went straight from the store with my perfectly wrapped poinsettia to her home in the northern burbs...20 minutes away.
She unwrapped it, watered and set it in her family room. Imagine her surprise to find it half dead the next day. I returned to Bachman's to see if they'd replace it and after a skeptical interrogation wherein they asked for my receipt (I don't keep receipts for plants that aren't supposed to die the next day) , and the terse cashier called a manager forth who told me to pick out a new one and an undisclosed discount would be applied at the register. I looked and could not find an decent looking equivalents. I had received a poinsettia from another friend who had purchased it at Costco and frankly it looked much better than anything on Bachman's display. I shared this with the manager who then said, "Maybe you should go to Costco then, as these are Bachman's special grown in Minnesota variety." I promptly left the store, and will not return again.
If you are looking for beautiful poinsettias at reasonable prices without the snotty customer experience, try Costco and forget about Bachman's anemic Minnesota grown plants.
P.S. Just got reply number 11 cut and pasted into a reply in a CYA that didn't offer me my money back or any remuneration. So sad when once great businesses fail their...
