Did not listen to instructions and caused potential harm to my dog. I brought my dog in for a bath. They called asking if I wanted “a few small mats cut out.” There were 2 noticeable mats in my dogs fur with largest about a quarters size. I assumed this is what they meant, so said yes but do not cut anything thing else. We pick him up and they SHAVED 3/4 the way around his neck ~3-4 inches wide around (look at pictures below). We did NOT give them permission to shave him and only said to cut a few mats out and I specifically said to NOT cut anything else (and we have specifically noted this in the past multiple times). We have a Samoyed, which is a double coat dog, you NEVER shave a Samoyed because it ruins their heat regulation and they overheat, skin is sensitive and they easily sunburn, and it takes 1 YEAR to grow back and 2-3 YEARS to match surrounding fur (and sometimes never does). You only cut out mats that are significant/severe, the rest can be combed out in an adult Samoyed, and when you cut them out you take as little fur as possible. I called and complained, they said that it was because the whole area was mated and argued with me that it is because it’s where his collar sits. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, the hair in the area was at MOST mildly mated (with exception of 2 small mats), and that’s not even where his collar rests and he only wears a collar during walks. If my dog was truly a dog full of mats, there would have been other areas that needed to be cut out, but this wasn’t the case and no other areas were cut/shaved. The owner I talked to gave a terrible apology and terrible solution to “make things right.” Why I’m giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because they did a good job with the bath and brushing him out and I can tell they put effort into this. It is so unfortunate the (potentially harmful) mistake they made, which completely overshadows the work they did. What they did to my dog makes my heart sick.

While my wife and I were on vacation for a week we had our 2 dogs Sox and April staying with the Pocatello Pet Lodge. One of dogs (Sox) was pretty old and ended up needing to be euthanized while we were away. This was an incredibly hard decision for us as you can imagine since we had imagined being with him in the end. Stephanie and every single one of her employees was extremely helpful and respectful during this process. They tried extremely hard to make his last couple days as comfortable as possible and allowed our other dog April to be with him throughout the process. They went above and beyond to even go to Jack in the Box for him and let us FaceTime with our boy before they took him to the vet. They were so kind and updated us every step of the way. I have been bringing my dogs to them for the last couple years and have had great interactions with them every time. My dogs have loved going there and we get excited every evening for the daily photos of our pups while away. We will forever be indebted to them for all the love they gave our best friend in the end. I will most certainly be bringing April there in the future and would recommend anyone in need of lodging for their furry friends give the Pocatello Pet Lodge a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Our first visit and day care experience at PPL exceeded our expectations and was a positive experience. Prior to coming in Angela shared her time and knowledge with me to ease my many concerns... Safety, health and wellness were part of her overview and support.. Zaria checked us in with such a kind, solid and happy spirit that we relaxed, felt safe and happy. Angela made time to meet us and took Xena in🙏. An hour later I received an amazing clip of the pack safely playing and having a blast. Zena was so happy enjoying the staff, facilities and new friends.. Zaria and Sophia checked us out with good information and next steps planning. Thanks so muh and see you soon 2nd visit was spectacular too. Xena was so tired from such a fun day at the lodge. Thanks

Our dog is a 100 pound Great Dane mix, he’s very gentle and sweet. We specifically told the staff that he isn’t a fighter or bully, and that he shouldn’t be kept with dogs that are. We arrived back to pick him up, and the staff tells us that our sweet dog was fighting and trying to jump their fence. Milo was completely traumatized, and had a bite mark and broken toe nails. When we tried to get more information from the staff we were treated as if our dog deserved to get beat up, Quote “your dog is mean” ( which is ridiculous) “he tried to jump the fence!” (Which proves that he was scared and bullied) When I asked for more details, the staff member became totally sarcastic and snotty. I would NOT recommend leaving a dog that is mellow here!!! After a visit to the vet, we were told the bite mark was from a large aggressive dog. This facility failed to protect our sweet Great Dane, we are beyond upset about this, and want others to know that their dogs safety is of no concern to these people. Since this has happened, Milo is shy and skittish, which was not his normal behavior, this incident has traumatized him beyond repair.

UPDATE: After this review was posted I was contacted by the owner of Pocatello Pet Lodge. I appreciated her call. At the time of the incident we were led to believe that the woman we talked with was completely in charge of the facility, now I realize that was not the case. This incident has left our sweet boy Milo traumatized, and that will never change. However I realize that I could have followed up with a phone call myself.

5/9/22 Interestingly I see a post from a woman named Stephanie, she says she can’t find a record of our Dog, or us, ever using their services??? Seriously? After the original post in 2019, I received a phone call from a woman, I don’t remember her name, but she told me she was the owner of the Pocatello Pet Lodge. She looked up the account, which we had at that time, and she even described our dog to me……..So now, all of a sudden we have NEVER used their services??? I don’t know about you, but clearly this business has some serious issues. My guess is she deleted our account because I wouldn’t RESCIND my review, and now she wants to publicly say that my HONEST REVIEW never happened because we NEVER visited her business??? Don’t trust this place, my dog Milo is still traumatized, that...

This place is not only very rude and unreliable. But they lie about anything and everything. I used to go and board my two bulldogs. NEVER again. We had boarded my 3 and 1 year old bulldogs in separate kennels. I paid for TWO kennels. My youngest was giving them trouble… LIKE A PUPPY and they had to have me bring him out. I go back there and my two bulldogs were crammed in one kennel. My one year old plays too much and never stops. My 3 year old can’t play too much or he gets overwhelmed and pukes. There’s a reason I didn’t put them in one kennel. You’d think they were trained to deal with a 20 pound 1 year old puppy but couldn’t even bring him out for me to take them home. Who knows what they were doing while I was away. In this same trip they had given my oldest wounds most likely from when they bathed him. I had told them he doesn’t like baths and he can’t use their slip tie kinds of leashes. I’m pretty sure they tied him up with a rope. It had burned his neck. He had no fur and was not even scabbed over and bleeding. When I had asked they said that we had brought him in with scabs and they were worried about it. This was a lie. One there was no scabs at all when we were picking him up. AND if there were and now there’s not that’s a problem because something tore it off. Once again proving you weren’t protecting my dog at all from anything. We provided harnesses that worked for both of my dogs. Not just one harness but two. When we picked our dogs up they had “lost” our other harness and had put the leash that I specifically told them our dogs cannot wear because of how their necks are it would choke them. Especially if you’re struggling and trying to pull them out of the kennel with the leash. This was a couple years ago and this account is not my real name

UPDATE: They either are HORRIBLE at documenting their complaints, or they just like to post the same response to every negative review, “never heard of you” they said this to another one star review. I know they don’t have record of my stay (under my name) because my mom booked the kennels, however I know they knew which dogs were mine at the time because there were hardly any English bulldogs in town. Just be cautious, I’m not sure how they run now, as I never went back after having my dog returned with horrible wounds. But I know...
