This has been the worst experience I've ever been through in a public service office. Someone needs to step up and check out the treatment and unorganized facility. First, I will start with making an online appointment was so confusing and hours to find. I am computer savvy and have no problem maneuvering or filling out a simple form, needs to be revised and made easier to find. Second, I arrived to my 1pm appointment on 2/24/2023, Friday 15 minutes early. I must have had about 8 people ahead of me. As I stood in line, I was practicing my cdl general knowledge practice questions for the exam. At 1:15pm an employee came out and yelled out for all the 1:15pm to come in. I thought to myself what about the 1pm appointments. A bunch of people ran to the door in front of all the 1pm Appointment people, I had to struggle through to the front line and was trying to ask the employee what about the 1pm appointments. He rudely looked at me and yelled, if you missed your appointment, you must make another one. At that point, people were trying to push their way in and the employee, yelled loud STAND BACK, STAND BACK. Then other folks behind me were claiming what about the 1pm appointments. At this point he had already allowed about 7 or 8 people inside. So, he decided to let the 1pm appointments in. There were people who stayed outside were yelling and upset. I stood in line and felt it was so unfair the 1:15pm appointments were ahead. By 1:30pm he comes back in a bad mood and starts yelling at all the 1:15pm appointments why were they in the front line and demands yelling to get in the back line. By this time the tension was not good. By 1:45 a lady who had come back from lunch was calling us who were inline. I was given a number and asked her a question about the exam, and she rudely answered she had no idea, instructed me to ask at the window. I went and was lucky to find a seat and waited about 30 minutes to be called. As I sat there, I was trying to study the exam questions but the noise and people yelling, upset of various reasons, was a distraction. I wondered how I was going to be able to do an exam with all this noise. Finally, I was called to the window. It was a young lady who I asked how you are, she responded, but not in a friendly manner. She asked, how can I help you? I finally was able to ask how many exams I had to take. She responded, youâre supposed to know which exam you want to take. I said, I was not sure if she could inform me what were the exams for a school bus drivers permit. She seemed to be agitated and said, she could not help me. I requested if she would please ask a supervisor, she left and then came back and pointed out the exams I had to take. She explained I was only allowed to take two exams at a time. I asked, so once I finish the exam, what do I do to take the remainder of exams. She pointed to a line and said, go over there. I took a deep breath and felt exhausted. She claimed I was not able to take the two exams only one because the computer was not accepting the request. I said, that was fine. She then told me the computer I was assigned too. I noticed it was a stand-up exam. The noise in the background was immensely disturbing. Babies crying people yelling and complaining. I wondered how I will be able to concentrate. It was almost 3pm as I stood in front of the computer, the exam gave me 1 hour to complete. Well, 35 minutes later, I failed the airbrakes. I had been studying for 10 days and after such a frustrating afternoon, I wanted to cry. I went quietly and stood in the line. At this point I had to go to the bathroom and was sweating, to many people in one place jammed. After 15 minutes in line, I decided to walk out. I finally understood why Florida has a shortage of school bus drivers. I decided not to pursue this job. Please change the setting for people who take exams. Please educate the employees to be courteous and understand the details of their job. Unhappy...

After 35 years of visiting different DMV offices, I can finally say that I found one that completely changed my perspective. The Pompano DMV is nothing short of extraordinary. The level of respect, organization, and genuine human kindness I experienced here is something I never thought possible at a DMV.
The moment I walked in, I was greeted not just with a hello, but with warmth and sincerity â a feeling that I was welcome and respected. The entire staff carried a positive energy, but two women truly stood out for their exceptional service: Marie Aime and Maricela (Audit Number: 9921).
Marie Aime handled my driverâs license renewal and replacement with incredible professionalism and compassion. Her gentle tone, calm personality, and respectful manner instantly put me at ease. She didnât rush the process or treat me like just another number â she took time to explain, smiled the entire time, and treated me with the dignity that every person deserves. I could feel her sincerity in the way she spoke and worked.
Then thereâs Maricela (Audit Number: 9921) â a true leader and someone I would call the heart of this DMV. She appears to be the front desk coordinator or manager, and the way she runs this office is unbelievable. Her coordination, attention to detail, and ability to handle every situation with grace show her natural leadership. She manages the seating, the flow of customers, and assists her team with an attitude of excellence. Her presence alone sets the tone for the entire office â calm, efficient, and welcoming. Maricela has what I call âmanager energy.â She is made for leadership.
The facility itself is another reason this experience stood out. Itâs spotlessly clean, bright, and comfortable â located conveniently inside the mall, behind JCPenney. Thereâs plenty of parking, easy access, and an atmosphere that feels calm and organized. You donât see people standing outside in long lines under the sun like other DMV offices. Here, you walk in, take a seat, and everything flows smoothly. The process is modern, efficient, and well-coordinated.
For years, many DMV locations have made people feel frustrated, disrespected, or ignored. Iâve seen people treated poorly, made to wait outside in the heat for hours, or spoken to with attitude. But this Pompano DMV is the exact opposite â itâs proof that respect, kindness, and professionalism still exist in government service.
When I left the office, I walked out smiling â something I never thought I would say about a DMV visit. Both Marie Aime and Maricela reminded me that good people still take pride in their work and truly care about helping others.
To everyone reading this: if you need to renew, replace, or update your driverâs license, donât go anywhere else. Come to 1955 N. Federal Hwy #209, Pompano Beach DMV. Youâll be treated with respect, kindness, and the professionalism every customer deserves.
Thank you again to Marie Aime, Maricela (Audit No. 9921), and the entire Pompano DMV team. You made my day, changed my view of the DMV system, and reminded me that even small acts of respect and kindness can make a lasting impact.
This office deserves 10 stars if it...

First of all, I urge you to pick a DIFFERENT dmv if possible. I brought my sister in for class e written and driving test. The place opens at 8 but you must arrive early to make the line. This location only takes 100 walk ins and she passed out numbers that you must show, everyone else must leave and attempt again at 3pm. I arrived at 7:30 and got number 85. It took 4 hours to enter the building and finally sit.
The experience inside with the miserable DMV workers was horrible. Multiple times I was yelled at for talking for my sister (who has no idea what to say as shes never been to a DMV and just turned 18). All I was doing was setting up the conversation so they know exactly whats needed for efficiency purposes. After she passed the written, they allowed us to go in queue for driving test. We waited in the designated area for 3 hours in the hot sun.
Finally my sister gets THE WORST PROCTOR EVER, Proctor Lopez (Spanish older lady with platinum blonde hair and terrible makeup), who failed her immediately for touching on of the cones during parking. It's understandable for that to be considered wrong, it was the way she handled the situation. My sister came back crying. She was yelled at and spoken down to. The lady also yelled at my saying I shouldn't have brought her if she was "so inexperienced". She claimed my breaks were unsafe (just went to get an oil change and was told my breaks were fine) and was upset that my car had no AC. She stormed away to the next person without telling me the next steps. She is lucky I did not give her the same treatment she gave me and my sister. She needs to be immediately fired.
I'm grateful that I had the opportunity as a walk in to attempt the written and drivers, but the people there are so soul sucking and depressing. We left this DMV with such heaviness, I needed to watch a guided meditation on you tube just to let my frustration out.
Once again, the DMV is the perfect place to see just how little the American Gov cares for it's people. I've lived in Australia and I can tell you I was SHOCKED at their "DMVs". I know all DMVs here suck, but if you must go here may the odds so ever be...
