AutoZone Auto Parts — Local services in Pontiac Township

Go to any of the other many auto parts stores in Pontiac! Do not waste your time 3 members of staff had no idea what i was asking for when asking for a gasket then i was informed they needed to know the make and model of the vehicle it was so they could get the right one. I told them that would not matter because its a universal gasket. They insisted they needed to know the make and model of the truck for the engine and i said we are replacing the stock engine with another gave them the engine we are replacing it with and still said they needed the make and model. At that point in time i was just done and wondering how they got a job at a auto parts store. I WENT TO EVERY OTHER AUTO PARTS STORE IN TOWN AND ASKED FOR THE SAME GASKET AND EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE WALKED OVER AND GRABBED ONE FOR ME! We have two project vehicles that we are currently building so we thought we would give them another chance from our last bad experience we had here, we have now learned from our mistakes. Yesterday I broke down in Pontiac illinois 23 miles from my home.. My husband got a ride to this store and bought a starter.. He laid on the gravel and changed out the starter. IT DID NOT WORK! I tow the truck home and take out the starter and it dose t even have an attached ground from the solenoid to the starter, this is all one piece!! Took it back today and sat it on the counter and said who can see the obvious problem with this starter? None could see what the problem was! So I point it out.. The one guy throws the starter into a bin.. I mean throws it!! I purchased another starter... Thankfully this one works.. This is not the 1st time I have recieved faulty parts and I'm pretty disgusted frankly! My hubs is a 59 year old heart paitent and should not have had to do this twice!! My car broke down just south of Pontiac on my way to Chciago. I knew the belt came off, since I lost power steering and the battery wasn't charging. Thanks to google maps, I was able to find this Auto Zone. The store manager quickly diagnosed what the issue is and of the his managers helped me find a shop to get the car towed to. Remember, Auto Zone doesn't fix your car, they can help you sell parts and give you free advice. They also do some complimentary services like battery replacements, wiper replacements and check engine readouts. Thankfully this store was open after noon, as every business seems to be in weekend mode out in Central Illinois... You guys rock, very helpful and informative.
